I'll check out the movie when I can rent it for three dollars. I doubt I'll be buying the soundtrack, but who knows? I plan on picking up the Hustle and Flow soundtrack one of these days. Judging from the previews I've seen of the Idlewild movie, looks like there might be some pre-war type jazz, blues and swing in the movie. Might be a few nice surprises there.

A soundtrack that I thought was pretty good was from the movie "Dead Presidents"

Here is the tracks

1. If You Want Me To Stay - Sly & The Family Stone
2. Walk On By - Isaac Hayes
3. The Payback - James Brown
4. I'll Be Around - The Spinners
5. Never Never Gonna Give You Up - Barry White
6. I Miss You - Harold Melvin & The Blue Notes
7. Get Up & Get Down - The Dramatics
8. If There's Hell Below - Curtis Mayfield
9. Do Right Woman, Do Right Man - Aretha Franklin
10. Where Is The Love - Jesse & Trina
11. Tired Of Being Alone - Al Green
12. Love Train - The O'Jays
13. The Look Of Love - Isaac Hayes
14. Dead Presidents Theme - Danny Elfman

I really like outkast... I know I won't like it better then the ABB Idlewild... but they are true music appreciators and one of the few instances of "good" rap IMO... I respect them...

Hell, most of this hip hop rap stuff has canned music playing in it anyway, might as well copy titles.

While I love my rock and blues, I do like all good music. I like Outkast. Of course, there is only one Idlewild in my mind

I found this when I saw this thread. It's actually a pretty good song. Bluesy with a hip hop overtone. Not bad.

I thought I read somewhere that outkast intentionally did things like this because they were trying to keep the new generations aware of the roots of music... if the ABB is what they had in mind when they choose the title then it would seem to be for a good reason...

check out their web site... it's pretty nice... and the song on the main page is defeintely old school inspired...
http://www.outkast.com/

and I guess the name came from that movie... so the title wouldn't have anything to do with the ABB... I'll probably be checking this one out...
