I have seen the Brothers from New York to Los Angeles with several stops in between. In the 40 shows I have been to, I have never seen anyone famous at any of them. Not that I go looking for that sort of thing, but you would think that I would run into one famous person at a show. (By famous I mean musician, athlete, tv or radio personality, Hollywood types. ) I would love to hear stories of encounters or sightings at a Brothers show. Have a nice day.

The fact is the band is not the "newest, hippest" thing happening right now. Consequently, any hipsters or scenesters stay away from shows like the ABB. Only people who go are the ones who enjoy the tunes and not the image around big-hype.

I am sure that there are plenty of people who have made their way to a show or two over the years, whom you would recognize. Guess is that you just have not seen them.....

Look for more face=friendly people in the larger markets: NYC or LA generally

I believe Bill Walton was at a Beacon show or two in 2004. Man, I'd hate to have the seats behind him!

I try to catch a show every year or two. I think I've been recognized once, by some other old guy, heh.

That's okay. I'm comfortable in my anonymity. You don't want to sit behind Bill at a concert, you're right about that. You also don't want to be the one to try to get him home after a night of indulging. Trust me.

A few years back in Berkely, Calif. at the Greek Theater show

I saw Patrick Simmons of the Doobies there.
Seen him where we were parking our scoots and inside
I even asked him if they were gonna play the Dixon May Fair again
he just smiled and said "thats just not up to me, my brother"

To me having the Doobies and Allmans share a stage one night would
be bliss. Definitily better than the Allmans/Skynyrd pairing of last summer

I'm almost embarassed to say this, but remember seeing the ABB in Richmond, Va about 1975, and yes, stitting on the side of the stage that night was none other than Cher. Didn't really think it was until a Random Note article in RS, mentioned that after that show the Gregg and Cher went to club in Richmond and saw a local band that was starting to make some national noise at the time. Oh yeah, the band was the Robbin Thompson Band. Anyone remember them?

PS: Brothers James,

Like the idea of an Allmans/Doobie pairing, certainly would be a good show. Btw, the Doobies have a DVD out that was filmed at Wolf Trap last summer. Seem many good shows there and love to see the ABB play there.

He sure was there. I was in the same row about 10 or 15 seats down from him on the 19th I think...

FWIW,

Peter, if I ran into you at an ABB/DTB show, I'd call friends on the spot and tell them. If I saw Bill Walton there, I'd yawn.

At the 1975 show at the Omni in Atlanta, Jimmy Carter came out and spoke before the band played and Cher was on the side of the stage right next to Gregg wearing a silver sequined outfit. This was one smoking concert.

I've seen a guy that looks awful familiar at alot of the shows I've attended wearing a Hawaiian shirt. Always has people all around him so he must be a celebrity. Matter of fact wound up partying in his hotel room a couple of times. Can't remember his name though I think it starts with a "G." He's got a cool custom SG as well..............

January 1976 at Memorial Coliseum in Lexington, Ky.

I sat next to Mike Phillipps & Jay Shidler. Rick Robey was behind me. They were the the backbone of the 1978 National Championship Kentucky basketball team.

I also wonder if Yonrico Scott was there? I believe he was going to UofK at the time.

Hey there sweet family,

My experience is that a lot of famous people come to ABB shows, but they have VIP passes and end up watching the show from the stage. Many members of "The Sopranos" cast came hmmm two or three years ago, Kate Hudson was there last year, and of course Chris. Kevin McHale (basketball star and T-wolves mgmt) was in Mpls one year. The musicians who come nearly always sit in, so they're listed in the set lists for the shows.

Take care and know that you are loved,

Lana

I've seen Bill Walton at several Dead shows, most recently at the Gorge this past summer when ABB "opened" for them. My "biggest and smallest) celeb citing was at a Yes show in Phoenix around 1997. I sat between Randy Johnson (the Yankees newest aquisition, all 6'10" of him) and wife and daughter (very HOT!) of Yes lead singer Jon Anderson six rows from the stage). Then after the show, as I was about to try to leave but got boxed in by the Unit. Jon (all 5'7" of him) came down off stage to speak with his family and Unit introduced himself. Somehow I got drawn into the conversation and chatted with all of them for 15 minutes.

I also ran in the Unit at a Rush show in Phoenix.
