yep- I just found a Watkins Glen festival album at a local thrift store in Boone that features "Statesboro Blues," "You Don't Love Me" and "Whipping Post",...........but don't get too excited as it is a Pickwick label album featuring cuts by all three bands played by the group King's Road. Still - this is new to me......and might be rare.

Watkins Glen
King's Road Plays The Heavy Sounds OF The Watkins Glen Concert

Pickwick SPC-3355
Side A- Truckin', Uncle John's Band, Casey Jones, Cripple Creek, & Stage Fright
Side B- The Weight, Statesboro Blues, Whipping Post, You Don't Love Me

quote:
Pickwick Records rushed out Watkins Glen with the tiny subtitle Kings Road Plays The Heavy Sounds Of The Watkins Glen Concert. The album is essentially studio musicians doing half-assed karaoke versions of the three bandsí songs with canned crowd noise book-ending each cut.
The album has no redeeming qualities whatsoever, but its comic value and its dedication to the cheap hustle make it something of a conversation piece. I have no idea what this hunk of junk is going for because nobody has been insane enough to try to sell one outside of a yard sale or a thrift store. Iíd say that if you spend more than twenty-five cents American youíve overpaid but hey, man, itís your trip. Peace.

A friend of mine bought this, gave it one listen, & into the trash can -- has nothing to do w/Watkins Glen, totally misleading cover -- I remember him saying, "& the chick has an ugly ass too"

Hahaha I remember that piece of crap! Found it at a secondhand store, threw the disc away and used the album cover as a greeting card to my brother to commemorate the 20th anniversary of our trip to Watkins Glen.
