I have done a very cool thing......Yesterday, Nature out did Herself and left me still amazed and moved. I noticed that there was a layer of low clouds in and around Grandfather Mountain so I took a chance and climbed Beacon Heights Cliff Trail......and immediately was blown away by what was before me. AN OCEAN OF CLOUDS settled on top of Wilson Creek Gorge that was dynamically twisting and leaping due to the high winds. THE FOOTAGE I TOOK WAS INCREDIBLE AND THIS MAY BE MY BEST SHORT NATURE FILM YET. i EVEN SPED UP THE VIDEO SO YOU CAN TRULY SEE THE MAGIC OF THESE SHAPESHIFTING WINTER CLOUDS. Hit the 'full screen' button and turn the volume up. I was the only person on the trail, and had the cliff to myself. Enjoy.

Part two -
I have finally finished my FILM ON THE ROAN MOUNTAIN GRASSY HIGHLANDS TRAIL. It includes a section of the Appalachian Trail and n my opinion, it is one of the coolest trails in the eastern U.S.
Last year, the Roan Mountain Conservancy commissioned Jens Kruger to write a beautiful piece called the "Roan Mountain Suite," which was recorded by the Kruger Brothers of Wilkes County and the Kontras Quartet. here, I have combined my best hiking footage with excerpts from the Suite.
This one is for those of you that have hiked the Roan. For the rest of you, it is worth the trip. Once again, NATURE SET TO MUSIC! Enjoy!

Enjoy all your work a lot, thanks for sharing!
it's snowy up here in Vt. -- wintertime is stunning b/c of how totally different it is from the rest of the year -- the 4 seasons are so well defined up here -- down your way too & thanks again, watched just the 1st couple min of the 8:14 long footage, looking forward to it -- also to the ski hill, which is where I'm bound right now ____________________ "I know y'all came to hear our songs, we like to play 'em for you but without Gregg here it's really hard for us to do. He sings & plays so much & does such a good job. He's really sick, 103* He might've come, but no one would let him." Duane |
