It's Tor at TB 2nite, then Nshvl-Wnpg tmrw -- both games involving top-5 teams all capable of finishing 1st>winning Cup
many such matchups coming

biggest one, the one that doesn't happen -- in our great season we didn't trade in panic mode obviously -- Spooner was playing good

new players are veterans, they won't wanna barge in & try to be 'saviors' -- not when we're 5th overall -- supplementing what's already happening (less last 2), will be the right way

but a fun last qtr of season in store, Let's Go Broonz, watta stretch run looming

41 Sunday & little has changed -- Zdeno is legit for the Norris IMO
some concern tho -- it'd have to be something pretty serious for him to miss these games -- gamer all the way & in fact was just quoted in the Wed paper about how resting guys was a bad idea --

it's all mathematics now -- our playoffs have begun
we beat them, we're right on their tails for 1st in div., (& likely overall) -- "pivotal" "crucial" so forth -- top 3 in Atlntc are top 6 overall
uncertain on both Patrice & Charlie for start of postseason playoffs, Patrice yet to skate -- BROONZ

All the talk norta da-bordair is of a posibl Toronto-Winnipeg final for all the marbles/champagne in the Cup -- a Plausible Scenario it is too -- preview is Sat nite in Tor w/a lot still on line for both, especially Wnpg

just as plausibly, Patrick Marleau standing in shock as time expires & Shark Tank goes crazy as Shahks win last game of playoffs & Cup -- yes Leafs are that good, they have an easy one 2nite & will continue to crowd us to the wire -- that Marleau transaction really benefited both teams -- SJ has played well w/out Joe T (knee), however, he may not be back this season

would like to see playoff-savvy Anaheim/LAK qualify, their playoffs are Now -- great LV 1st-year & all, both would bounce Vegas 1st round -- credit to LV, they sustained it all year long, but as was posted in the other thread, Playoffs are a WHOLE different ballgame

The fever pitch there last night will be again tmrw nite
Wnpg thinks they can catch Nshvl, & beat them last night in 65 min of crush-pucks (47-35 W shots advntg)
We can catch TB -- if Wnpg wins they pull even w/us......

perfect scenario, tied w/TB going into Thurs -- however, they have an easy one 2nite
simply put, it can't be topped for electricity/tension etc -- it was there last nite/will be tmrw nite in Wnpg, hugely-Thursdy -- all top 4 stuff, awesome

Zdeno/McAvoy were among top D tandems this season -- how far realistically we could get w/out them at full speed...that's why our playoffs are Now, the boys are busting their balls like it's the Finals in a way

As always a quick healer, Patrice is back -- Mum's the word on Chara & Charlie -- oh also, Brad Marchand -- BRAD MARCHAND -- MVP -- Watta Team, Keep Burnin BROONZ

Bruins have had a great season particularly with all the injuries. that being said, toronto will be a tough matchup in round 1 with winner meeting Tampa. I love the playoffs!!!!

You know there will be at least one major surprise in Round 1. Last year Nashville clobbered Hawks in 4 straight. Nobody knew how good Preds were at that time.

Another year to see if the Caps can respond or just go out again.

A lucky break for B's tho, TB lost last night to lowly AZ -- there's still a chance we could take 1st overall & avoid Tor 1st round --
Leafs lost last nite to lowly Buff but loom large still -- one of just 2 of the O6 in postseason, & one of just two of the 7 Canadian teams --

but we have the Golden Jets 1st -- the Golden Jet -- Bobby, the only hockey player to ever have his team named after him -- that's how big his defection to/signing with the WHA was in 1972

He balked at Golden Jets so they shortened it to Wnpg Jets, in the same fashion the Calif. Golden Seals became the Calif. Seals, the NY Golden Blades & those other WHA teams... -- now there's the Golden Knights, & rolling the dice it'll be shortened too

we can't let em tie us in standings tonite -- pre-playoffs continue tmrw nite when desperate Fla visits Tor (also Phila-Colo) -- McAvoy "has resumed skating -- "Zdeno "back on ice" & ups to B's, Zdeno is in the fold for next year w/a 1 year contract extension, YA LET'S GO BROONZ

Possible-Finals preview wknd w/Toronto (T6, 99 pts) vs. Winnipeg (4th, 104) Saturday, then Nshvl (1st, 111) vs. Tampa, THIRD PLACE BABY, YAR B's (106) Sunday

It all depends on Tuesday -- yes 1st overall looks unlikely as of right now -- we want Preds to lose, Except For On Sunday

teams say little about injuries, it's understandable -- bottom line, Tor handled desperate Fla Wed., we Gotta do that tmrw -- on Easter Sunday & all, in the city of brotherly love & all, Broad St. will not be the place to be -- Flyiz just barely hangin on, we gotta make sure to get that Fla win 1st, then the travel day to TB

So many good teams, that 2 of top 4 will be out early (B's-Tor, Wnpg-Nshvl 2nd round)
as it is, the best one, Right Now, is not even in -- we saw that Sunday --

FLA won 5 games over last 7 days of season to cap a 25-8-2 record since all star break -- even when we were waxing em in 3rd period (23-3 shots at one point), they were still quick to the puck & playing sound
article says their top 3 scorers, & 2 of their top 4 defensemen are all 24 or younger -- this team will be big trouble next year & you know neighboring TB is breathing a big sigh of relief Fla didn't make it

ChiHawks honored Stan Mikita at their home finale -- awesome gesture, w/the sobering reality & harshness of senility -- according to the article, quote "Mikita’s daughter, Jane, offered a sad update before the ceremony. “Stan is, from the neck up, completely gone,” she said. “And from the neck down, he is as strong as a horse.”
Stan represented ChiHawks at the 1995 closing of Boston Garden (1 player representing each O6 team), getting a real nice hand -- 22 years w/ChiHawks

Article says of the 31 teams to finish first since 1986 when the President's Trophy (1st place overall) was established, only 8 have gone on to win Cup -- good quote from TB coach about playoffs -- "You need health. You need luck" -- in so many words, the bounce of the puck, he said, not who is actually 'better' team, often decides series

Let's go BROONZ -- how much will home ice affect series -- adjustment to D rotation (w/no Carlo) is good -- we've been around the block so many times w/them, it's a pick 'em any which-way -- that's what most of them are IMO -- TB-NJ is a 1 vs. 8, but NJ won all three games so....."let the games begin"

I saw the NY Golden Blades play the Los Angeles Sharks at an exhibition game in Syracuse.

While on vacation in Houston we did a group outing with the sports bar we stayed near and saw the Houston Aeros with Gordie Howe play against the Winnipeg Jets and Bobby Hull.

I'm looking forward to my Devils and the Lightning.

We match up very well with them.

Stamkos is back, he makes a Big diffrnce for TB -- still going w/NJ as an 'upset' pick along w/LA over LV
BROONZ -- no idea about games, just we advance past Tor
Wash over CBJ
Phila-Pitts, how do ya pick that -- Pens
same SJ-Anaheim, 2 very good teams, both missing key people, AMD passed Shahks w/101 points at very end....my pick, SJ
& Nshvl & Wnpg win their series

watta treat tho Ron -- Gordie's sons were w/Aeros then too I'm guessing? heck almost as a cameo to his great career Bobby took a few turns w/Gordie in the last 9 games of Bobby's career as Hartford Whalers teammates -- Bobby had his wig by then, he didn't downplay it either, he went from bald to a Beatle haircut overnite

sorry to blab, but WHA had such great names -- yep, b4 the SJ Sharks or LA Kings, there was the LA Sharks & their raw but gung-ho hell bent for leather D BART CRASHLEY -- do you recall if was he there when you saw them?
& how could south Fla ever be ready for the Miami Screaming Eagles -- sure enough, they never got off the ground

neither will Leafs, we'll rake em up into a pile

stoked for tonite even if Rangers are not playing. Some first round thoughts.

best storyline is Vegas. I think they get by Kings with Fleury being the difference.

dont see Nashville losing but last year did not see them winning.

I think Jersey gives TB all they can handle in a very competitive series.

BTW---i am usually wrong!!!

I forget how many years it's been but this is the first time in many years that no team from New York or Chicago didn't make the playoffs in the the NHL or NBA. Crazy...

most games went as i thought. Was really surprised at how Leafs we dominated last night. Boston had them completely outclassed. Losing Kadri is not going to help either as he is someone who will mix it up. Toronto is not a physical team but Boston looked faster as well as pushed them all over the rink.

Caps and Jackets is going to be a rough long series and i think games are going to be real close. Wonder if Holtby gets the nod in game 2.

Devils played a good road game to start and I think they will compete in the series. issue is Tampa is the kind of team that takes advantage of one or two mistakes and buries the puck.

have to give those Vegas Knights a lot of credit. They are no fluke at all.

Caps and Jackets is great series. Columbus is getting amazing goal tending and somehow have taken both games. I assume Caps go back to Holtby for game 3 but who knows how he will play as he has been very inconsistent this year

Leafs look like they are going down without a fight. I am very surprised by this and thought Toronto would take this series in 7. Not sure if Boston is playing great or Toronto is just playing with little energy

Flyers still need a goaltender

Glad to see Leafs raised their game last night

Both Devils and Leafs games were spectacular and how i thought the games would play out. Devils won't beat Tampa but they are one heck of a talented young team and can play with anyone. they will go down but very underrated.

Did not expect Ducks to fold their feathers and quack out so easily.

Anyhow game 3s for teams at home down 2-0 are usually where they make their last stand.

I expect Tampa and Nashville to take game 4. Leafs-Boston is a difficult one as i believe Leafs have talent to compete with Boston and i expect Toronto to even things up.

Vegas hopefully completes sweep tonight. I also think Caps will rebound and not sure on Jets/Wild game but lean toward Wild.

Caps survived last night. These teams are an even match. Exhausting games. Not sure how much they will have left to face Penguins. Exciting hockey. How about Panarin!!! How good is that guy. What were the Hawks thinking? What planet were they on.

Vegas keeps on rolling. Great story.

More drama tonite. I like the Pens, Tampa, Sharks and Press tonite. I believe they are all road teams.

Gooooooooooooooooooooo Pittsburgh.

Made a bet on how many first round series would go seven games. Over / under was 2.5. Took the under. That's looking good. Only one is even tied at the moment and two are already over.
