On March 13 I was at the restaurant next to the beacon getting a drink with my dad before the show. Sitting at a table was Jaimoe. I waited untill he was done eating and getting up to walk to the door. I went up to him and asked very politely if i could get a picture with him. He told me he only takes pictures with girls and no guys. I thought he was joking but he was really being serious because he diddnt want to take the picture. I understand how many people come up to him asking for autographs and it probably gets very tiring. It really bummed me out because i came from Florida to see them. but the show got me up again. Has anyone else had an experiance like this. |

Oh that's too bad.... I really don't think he's like that, I think he usually is pretty accommodating. Might have been just an off night for him.
On another note.... I really want to give my appreciation to him as well, he is such a powerhouse musically and how blessed we all are to have them together making that very unique sound..
Thanks Jaimoe

You should have grabbed a girl to get in the picture with you! I got grabbed to do this for a guy in NY one year. I was happy to do it ! Now the guy has a picture of Jaimoe, some woman from Georgia, and himself. ____________________ By my calculation, there's nothing else I need to know. I wouldn't take it personally, that is just how Jaimoe is. For what it is worth, he was most likely not being serious at all. Every time I see him I tell him the Wyatt's from Georgia say hello, and he says, "I don't know them!" They are a couple of his close friends!
He is just Jaimoe and that is all, that is him and who he is, and how his personality is.

He simply may have not been in a mood to have his picture taken and said it in code.I've known him for 16 years now and I don't believe there is one picture of us together,so go figure!Maybe he was telling you the truth!I think he has a mystery about him that nobody can completely figure out. That may be true of Dickey, too.Jaimoe is a polite, gentle soul, private at times. ____________________ David Stoltz |

What if Jaimoe was financially broke and no one would buy is CDs? I wonder how many pictures he would take to grow his fan base. I have seen him do this several times to young teenage kids. I wonder how disappointed these young kids were after being rejected by someone they admired. I guess those that have sometimes forget.

Just to maintain some sort of sanity & keep grounded in reality, musicians & others in the public spotlight have to guard their privacy -- from Chuck Leavell to Willie Perkins, Brother Dave & the many here who've met & posted about him, Jaimoe is as cool & friendly a person as one meets.
Just a hello to Bro. David Stoltz, & to say that I yesterday listened to the 4/15/94 Jaimoe & the All-Stars show from Hartford -- for the folks who may not know, the Elizabeth Reed from this show is special -- what solos -- by guitarists Don Emery (?) and Jeff Pevar, and how cool to hear Jaimoe step out on his own for a singular solo at the end -- what a drummer, and if this makes any sense you also hear at the same time, by Butch's absence, what an organic, unforced style he & Butchy have, and of course Marc also.
Last but not least -- David's solo in this Liz Reed is joyful energy unleashed -- he takes the middle part (where Gregg's solo would normally be) and plucks those four strings like nobody's business -- great, great stuff. ____________________ "I know y'all came to hear our songs, we like to play 'em for you but without Gregg here it's really hard for us to do. He sings & plays so much & does such a good job. He's really sick, 103* He might've come, but no one would let him." Duane |

I don't have a picture of Jai and I together--not just us, anyway--and he lived at my house for a year and a half. |

I have a great picture of me and Jaimoe together.
I hope Staples will take Photoshop back opened.
Be safe,
John

So glad to hear this actually. The SAME thing just happened to me!!! Exactly. Except it was during a meet and greet so I wasn't interrupting him. I waited in line. I am a LONG time Brothers fan and met him. I asked for a photo and he asked me if he was going to get a cut??? I said I am sorry it is for me because I am a fan, and he said he wanted a cut. I was really confused. I love the band and really like him and politely introduced myself and thanked him for the music. I wish him the best. I was thinking that maybe I reminded him of someone from the past the owed him money. Anyway....he and the band are great. So happy to see this story because I kept wondering if I had angered him somehow by saying I loved him as a drummer so much, |
