Event Date: Thursday, December 10, 1970
Start Time: 7:00 PM *
Band: The Allman Brothers Band
Venue: New Haven College
Location: West haven, Connecticut Weather ForecastWeather Map of Venue Map

Other Information:
On Thursday, Dec. 10, 1970 the Bros. played two shows in the cafe at New Haven College ( now Univ. of New Haven ) They played with a band called Jasper Wrath, A big local band. Because of stage space, they headlined the first show and opened the second show. Tickets were $2.00 for students and $3.00 for the public. I'm sure of the date because I was at the Fillmore the next night. I was the social chairman for the school at the time. The booking agent was Johnny Podell of ABC. I had the contract for about 30 years, but lost it in a fire a few years ago. By the way, the cost for two shows was $500.00 about the cost of three tickets for the Beacon this year!
I still see the Bros. several times a year and never miss the Beacon. --ctbrosfan

I remember this show very well. I was 16 at the time and had only had my license since August. My friend Tommy was studying bass, and his teacher told us about the gig and not to miss it. I played trombone in the high school band, and hung out with some band members who were in a rock band, including Tommy and Paul, the drummer. We all piled into my father's station wagon and went to the show. It was truly amazing, especially the interplay between Dickie and Duane. When the Fillmore East album came out, Paul handed it to me and said "this is the show we saw." I have not been without that album ever since, and since i got my first iPod it's always been on the device. Truly one of the best concerts I ever saw - right up there with Jimi Hendrix, who we saw in 1968 at Hartford.
