 | Beginnings
March 26, 1969 - The Allman Brothers Band is formed in Jacksonville, Florida:
November 1969 - "The Allman Brothers Band", their first album, is released.
September 1970 - "Idlewild South" is released with guest artist:
- Thom Doucette, harmonica & percussion
July 1971 - "The Allman Brothers Band At Fillmore East", a double live album, is released with guest artist:
October 29, 1971 - Duane Allman's life is tragically cut short by a motorcycle accident in Macon, GA. The Brothers decide to carry on without adding a new guitarist, feeling that Duane cannot be replaced. Dickey Betts plays all the guitar parts, and fans hear him play slide for the first time.
November 1971- November 1972 The band is composed of:
- Gregg Allman, lead vocals and Hammond B3 organ
- Dickey Betts, lead and slide guitar
- Berry Oakley, bass
- Butch Trucks, drums and percussion
- Jai Johanny Johanson "Jaimoe", drums
February 1972 - "Eat A Peach", a double album, is released.
November 11, 1972 - Only a bit more than a year after losing Duane, the band is shocked by the loss of Berry Oakley in another motorcycle accident, only blocks from where Duane's happened. Once again, the band decides that the best tribute to the memory of the departed brothers is to keep on playing, and so they do.

November 1972 - May 1976 The band is composed of:

- Dickey Betts, lead and slide guitar
- Butch Trucks, drums and percussion
- Jai Johanny Johanson "Jaimoe", drums
- Lamar Williams, bass
- Chuck Leavell, piano
March 1973 - "Brothers and Sisters" is released with guest artists:
- Les Dudek, lead and acoustic guitar
- Tommy Talton, acoustic guitar
July 1975- "Win, Lose, Or Draw" is released with guest artists:
- Johnny Sandlin, acoustic guitar and percussion
- Bill Stewart, percussion
September 1976 - "Wipe The Windows, Check The Oil, Dollar Gas", a double live album, is released.
May 1976- August 1978 - The band dissolves and pursues solo projects. Gregg tours as the Gregg Allman Band with the Nighthawks and Mama's Pride, and also appears in Japan and the UK with Cher on guest vocals.
August 16, 1978 - In a surprise "reunion" concert in New York's Central Park, the Dickey Betts Band and Gregg Allman Band combine forces on stage to the delight of the fans.
February 1979 - "Enlightened Rogues" is released with guest artists:
- Joe Lala, percussion
- Jim Essery, harmonica
- Mimi Hart, background vocals
- Bonnie Bramlett, background vocals
February 1979 - October 1980 - The band gets back together and is composed of:
- Gregg Allman, lead vocals and Hammond B3 organ
- Dickey Betts, lead and slide guitar
- Butch Trucks, drums and percussion
- "Jaimoe" Johanny Johanson, drums
- "Dangerous" Dan Toler, lead guitar
- David "Rook" Goldflies, bass
- Mike Lawler, piano, electric piano, synthesizers, clavinet
- Bonnie Bramlett is a frequent guest vocalist
November 1980 - "Reach For The Sky" is released on Arista Records with guest artists:
- Jim Essery, harmonica
- Johnny Cobb, piano, background vocals
- Mark Morris, congas, timbales, percussion
- Sherry Cobb, background vocals on "Famous Last Words"
- Thomas Caine, background vocals on "Hell & High Water"

November 17, 1980 - January 23, 1982 - Jaimoe leaves the band and it is composed of:

- "Dangerous" Dan Toler, lead guitar
- David "Rook" Goldflies, bass
- Butch Trucks, drums and percussion
- Mike Lawler, piano, electric piano, synthesizers, clavinet

December 1981 - "Brothers Of The Road" is released with guest artists:

January 23, 1982 - The band plays the song "Leavin'" on Saturday Night Live in their last performance until 1986. April 1986 - throughout most of 1986 - The Dickey Betts Band and the Gregg Allman Band team up for a tour that includes their combined forces in an "ABB Reunion" at the end of the evening. While not technically an Allman Brothers Band show, the audiences could hardly tell the difference.
July 12, 1986 - The ABB appears at Charlie Daniels' Volunteer Jam XII with Chuck Leavell and Dan Toler in the lineup.
October 31, 1986 - The band plays at Bill Graham's Crackdown anti-drug benefit at Madison Square Garden, NYC.
May 1989 - "Dreams" box set is released.
June 1989 - December 1990 - The ABB reunite and is composed of:
- Gregg Allman, lead vocals and Hammond B3 organ
- Dickey Betts, lead guitar
- Butch Trucks, drums and percussion
- Jaimoe, drums
- Warren Haynes, lead and slide guitar
- Allen Woody, bass
- Johnny Neel, piano and synthesizer
June 1990 - "Seven Turns" is released with guest artists:
- Mark Morris, percussion
- Duane Betts (in his debut), guitar on "True Gravity"

 | The 90s
January 1991 - March 26, 1997 Johnny Neel left the band at the end of 1990 and Marc Quinones was asked to join. The band was composed of:
- Gregg Allman, lead vocals and Hammond B3 organ
- Dickey Betts, lead guitar
- Butch Trucks, drums and percussion
- Jaimoe, drums
- Warren Haynes, lead and slide guitar
- Allen Woody, bass
- Marc Quinones, percussion
June 1991- "Shades Of Two Worlds" is released. June 1992 - "An Evening With The Allman Brothers Band" is released.
May 1995 - "Where It All Begins" is released. May 1996 - "2nd Set" is released.
March 1997 - After the Beacon run Warren and Allen left to pursue Gov't Mule full time. Once again, two great musicians were found to join the group - Jack Pearson on guitar and Oteil Burbridge on bass. The band was composed of:
- Gregg Allman, lead vocals and Hammond B3 organ
- Dickey Betts, lead guitar
- Butch Trucks, drums and percussion
- Jaimoe, drums
- Marc Quinones, percussion
- Jack Pearson, lead and slide guitar
- Oteil Burbridge, bass
June 1998 - "Mycology: An Anthology" is released. March 1999 - The Allman Brothers Band begins their 30th Anniversary Tour with 18 nights at the Beacon Theatre in NYC. March 26, 1999 marks the official 30th anniversary of the band. March 28, 1999 Jack Pearson plays his last gig with the Allman Brothers Band and leaves to pursue his solo career. Derek Trucks is tapped to fill the open guitarist slot and the band is composed of:
- Gregg Allman, lead vocals and Hammond B3 organ
- Dickey Betts, lead guitar
- Butch Trucks, drums and percussion
- Jaimoe, drums
- Marc Quinones, percussion
- Oteil Burbridge, bass
- Derek Trucks, lead and slide guitar

June 16, 2000 - Gregg, Jaimoe and Butch ask Dickey to take the summer off, citing creative differences. The summer tour proceeds with Jimmy Herring subbing for Dickey. The band is composed of:
- Gregg Allman, lead vocals and Hammond B3 organ
- Butch Trucks, drums and percussion
- Jaimoe, drums
- Marc Quinones, percussion
- Oteil Burbridge, bass
- Derek Trucks, lead and slide guitar
- Jimmy Herring, lead guitar
August 26, 2000 - Allen Woody dies in his sleep in NYC.
Nov 13, 2000 - "Peakin' At The Beacon" is released.
March 2001 - Warren Haynes joins the ABB for the Beacon run as a "special guest artist". June 15, 2001 - The summer tour kicks off with Warren Haynes once again an official member of the Allman Brothers Band. The band is composed of:
- Gregg Allman, lead vocals and Hammond B3 organ
- Butch Trucks, drums and percussion
- Jaimoe, drums
- Marc Quinones, percussion
- Oteil Burbridge, bass
- Derek Trucks, lead and slide guitar
- Warren Haynes, lead and slide guitar
March 2003 - "Hittin' the Note" is released on Sanctuary Records.
September 23, 2003 - The Allman Brothers Band - Live at the Beacon Theatre DVD released.
March 23, 2004 - One Way Out is released on Sanctuary Records. Based on the same show as the Live at the Beacon DVD, plus Trouble No More, Wasted Words, Good Morning Little School Girl, and Every Hungry Woman.
June 2004 - "Stand Back: The Anthology" is released on UTVRecords.
