Its looking like that, and a "new" Derek Trucks and Susan Tedeschi Band.
I'm hoping some of the dTb can be a part of the new outfit. And hoping the dTb (minus Susan T.) continues into the future.

Rightfully so, the guy has earned some time off. But music is in their blood. I would guess it would be hard for them to do nothing for a whole year. I quit worrying about the rumors, just take what they give us and be happy with that. We all have been very lucky cause these guys have played their asses off for us all!!

Which is why it may be a good thing to put this Big House thing to the side for a moment and for those in the Atlanta area to get out and see the DTB at the Variety Playhouse and then scoot over to Macon and catch them at the BBQ festival.

Here is the full post... we do get a live album release in 2010 so that's nice...

After 16 years of relentless touring, and a fantastic 2009 that featured the release of Already Free, and a World Tour that brought the band to more than a dozen countries on four continents, The Derek Trucks Band is taking a hiatus in 2010. There are still a number of dTb dates scheduled throughout November and December of 2009 – check the chart below to see the full list, and head to the Tour Page to purchase tickets.

To commemorate a stellar year of dTb concerts, we are releasing a live CD in 2010 from one of the band’s shows from the Already Free Tour. We’ve been listening to the tapes and the band is getting excited about their first full-length live album since 2004’s Live At Georgia Theatre.

Stay tuned to DerekTrucks.com for more news about 2010, and all the details about the band’s forthcoming live album…

There's been a little wishful thinking on this site, but that doesn't really qualify as a rumor, does it?

Two things everybody has agreed on, I think: Derek has been talking for a while about starting a band with Susan, like the Entourage link confirms, and the Allmans won't be playing as many shows next year. The band with Susan (and some family time at home, I'm sure) is definitely the main focus. The fact that they'll be touring "between March and September 2010" shows that. I'm sure they won't be on the road that whole time at all, but still.

Yes, Derek has said repeatedly in interviews, although in a tone that had read more like a deflection to the interviewers' questions, that he plans to personally scale back next year after the ABB scales back and that he'd like to do a project with Susan. Makes sense.

I wish they wouldn't use the word "Hiatus" though as a proper noun. Phish killed that word for me forever.

I'm torn here! Derek Trucks Band is my absolute favorite touring act now and for the past 4 to 5 years. Everyone of them are amazing musicians.

And I love the collaborations with Susan, I've seen Soul Stew a few times. And Derek deserves what ever he wants from an artistic/touring perspective. Good for him. Good for Susan. Good for their kids!

But I hate that I won't see a DTB show all of next year! I'm sure I'll love whatever they decide to do and I hope they bring it back strong in 2011!

I had heard something about this in Sept . I wish Derek well and trust his judgement completely.

I cannot believe no one has mentioned the TTB (can we call it that?) tour starting in March. No concern in NYC?

yeah, March 31 is a Wednesday, and the ABB seem to like to wrap the Beacon up on a Sunday or Monday, depending on how many "by popular demand" additional shows are added after the initial announcement. So that gives Derek a good Tuesday rest and perfect time to start the TTB tour in March

Just yesterday I was thinking of the steps you need to take to become a famous jam band:

1. Declare you're "not a jam band."
2. Take a hiatus.
3. Play with other bands.
4. You're now a huge success!

I do trust the band's judgment, but I'll miss them if they're not on the road at all next year. And just as a guess, I wouldn't expect them to tour continously from March to September of next year. The page says they'll hit the road between those months. March to September would be a very long tour for their first time out.

I thought I remembered something about dedicating the next year to Susan's career and family after the crazy schedule with the ABB and DTB in 2009. I also remember something about doing something formal like a record with Soul Stew Revival. Glad I'm seeing DTB in December in NYC before they take their sabbatical.

DEREK TRUCKS AND SUSAN TEDESCHI "ALL NEW" PROJECT FOR 2010!
Unquestionably the most formidable husband/wife team in the history of southern rock and blues music, Derek and Susan to put together a new band for 2010 and are currently scheduled to hit the road between March and September 2010.

I wonder what the "new band" is??? Not Soul Stew, I take it?!?!

I understand that Derek wants to explore new avenues and projects...

But Derek!...Keep your band together!... To give it up for an ABB tour?.. I don't believe it. I don't know how many more times I can stand "Statesboro Blues" & "Melissa" in concert just to hear Derek play...

.... I would guess that if true, this has everything to do with his wife and family.

Right on.
