Hes coming to the Detroit area and from what Ive read he sounds pretty cool. For anyone who has seen him, is it worth it? Or just another blues dude.

Funny you should post that thought. There is so much of the same music being played the same way out there...especially in the "Blues" genre...But Tab has nights where he plays with such emotion...On occasion he plays here in San Diego at the "Backstage Lounge" @ Humphreys, for about 15-20$...pretty good entertainment value for that price. Check him out and let us know what you thought.

I saw him in san diego in 05 and he was great!. but he had a different drummer 6 mos. later in phoenix, and the energy [and groove] just was not there!. Tab actually got behind the drums and did a solo!, he was a more natural drummer than "his drummer".

Tab is definately worth going to see. He's a unique songwriter as well as a very accomplished guitar player. Hell, he's from the New Orlens/Lafayette/Baton Rouge scene. You can't go wrong with much from there.

Definately go see him. I went the last couple times he played Callahan's and he was great both times. He's not just another blues guy. Be prepared to get a little education about the disappearing wetlands of the gulf coast, something he (and I) is very passionate about.

Last time I saw him I sat with his girlfriend during the show. What a babe. I was hoping someone I knew would come in and see me with her!

Would definitely recommend!
He is one of the current New Orleans mainstays!
I have been at many shows in New Orleans and he just showed up to jam, mostly at the rock and bowl.
I was at the rock and bowl one time he came in with his guitar in hand.
We thought he was going to play but I think he just wanted to hear Snooks
Eaglin, and he didnít want his guitar stolen from his car, hey only in New Orleans!

Go and have a blast !

I never miss Tab when he comes to Maine (which unfortunately isn't very often)....have seen hime 4 or 5 times I guess and he puts on a great show. He's got a great bayou blues sound and plays with a tremendous amount of passion. If you get a chance to see him, GO.

Saw Tab Benoit and the Swampland Jam @ VooDoo Fest this past Sunday and it was one the best sets I saw during the entire weekend. Very strong, emotional playing... we loved it!

I've seen him a number of times, and I agree, he's worth going to see if you like the blues.
