GABBA will be dedicating a tree in memory of Bill Ector at Rose Hill Cemetery in Macon at 4:00 on Saturday, November 7th, prior to the Tommy Talton Band Concert. Several members of Bill's family are planning to attend, and we would like to invite everyone who lives in the area or is in town to come out and join us.

This will be the 5th tree planted in Rose Hill by GABBA, which works closely with Macon Parks and Recreation to replace trees that have died in the historic cemetery. For those not familiar with GABBA's history, the other trees were in honor of Heather McDonald, Joe Dan Petty, Mama Hill & Mama Louise and Twiggs Lyndon.

Good stuff! One of these days I'll have to make it out to Macon and just hang out.

Here's to a good crowd and a fun time!

I will be there. Bill would love this...he does love this. A tree, to stand in one place for one or two hundred years. A tree that will hear a multitude of voices and see history, feel history. The Bill Tree. I love you, Bill, and I miss you.

Very nice gesture for some great people. Curious, what kind of trees were planted for each person??????

And so will I. wouldn't miss it for the world! I have known and love Bill for many years. It's the least I can do.

I'll be at the Cox Theatre on Saturday night too. I hope some of his family will be able to stay for that. Bill will be there

Good question -

Heather MacDonald - Japanese Maple
Saucer Magnolia - Joe Dan Petty
Serviceberry - Mama Hill & Mama Louis
Oak - Twiggs Lyndon

Not sure on Bill's quite yet.

The Skydogs Band will be playing a show that nite...we will dedicate our show to Brother Bill. He was a good friend and I miss him. Many memories on my mind.
I think a Long leaf Pine would be nice. Or maybe a Dogwood. Even a Maple...
doesnt much matter....Bill would love em all.

Hi, wanted to bump this up, hope to see as many of Bill's friends there as possible. Bills daughter Hannah and her mother Theresa had planned originally to attend, but it looks like Hannah has the flu, Theresa had to pick her up from school

However, Bill's sister Betsy is planning to attend and is very excited! Another close family friend who was at his memorial service was also planning to attend, the last I heard.

Bill's tree is a Nuttall Oak, with beautiful red autumn leaves and already towering above everybody at the ceremony. It was a great turnout, Terry sang "Sweet Melissa" while Bluedad played and several people shared their favorite Bill stories. I should have some pictures up by tomorrow.

I got teary as soon as I saw it was an oak tree. I stared at the sky, while the preacher said a sweet prayer, but the tears kept coming, so I went to sit by the car and listen. Beautiful music, beautiful words, by beautiful paople. It was truly a fitting memorial. I love Bill!

Fitting and appropriate gathering for Bill. A lot of emotion, but a lot of smiles to go with it. It was great to see Bill's sister Betsy again. She's such a sweetheart and appreciates our love for her brother.

WE MISS YOU BILL.....STILL.
