Now I ask you all, what other state has a powerhouse line up like this?

And there are other Detroit acts I haven't even mentioned yet....

Oh c'mon...Madonna has her place in history. If you like dance music or 80s music you just have to be a fan, additionally she was without a doubt a cultural icon.

They're not from Detroit but the J. Geils Band always considered it a second home

IMO,the 80's were the worst decade for music ever. But,there were a few artist's that i liked....Madonna was def. not among them.

The original Alice Cooper Band was,is and will always be the greatest rock n roll act out of Detroit.

Alice Cooper was great. Add him to my list as well as Smokey Robinson, Mitch Ryder, and the Four Tops.

Somebody mentioned that J Geils Band considered Detroit a second home---well so did Kiss. To this day they do better there than almost anywhere else.

Chicago would give it a pretty good run for its money, as would Memphis and New Orleans.

But Detroit Rock City has always been one of the most favorite towns for any band to play. The fans are incredbily knowledgable and rabidly enthusiastic.

I totally agree. Been listening to a lot of Iggy and the Stooges from the Fun House and Raw Power eras and I think the Stooges might have been the most ferocious band ever. I don't know how I missed them back in the day....guess I was in my adolescent homophobic phase and was scared off by the glam thing, but these guys were a truly DANGEROUS band.

RIP to Ron Asheton, one of the absolute best, and sorely underrated hard rock guitarists ever.
