Lucky Leo, as you can see from the smile on his face. Sweet solos by Doc and Chet. Real deal guitar pulling. Nuff said.

Holy cow! Amazing!
Now, if you'll excuse me I have to go to the bathroom and clean myself up.
Thanks for that! ____________________ Music is love, and love is music, if you know what I mean.

Leo does a great version of Little Martha, which is up on youtube as well. A buddy of mine saw him in Madison Wi recently and called me to tell me about him doing LM at the show. ____________________ "This ain't no ballet-we want people to listen with their eyes closed,to just let the music come inside them and forget their wordly cares..." I've seen Leo a few times in concert and during the most recent show he did Little Martha. It was a version that would do the writers proud. Leo is one big time player - real talented and a master of the 12 string acoustic. Also he plays a nice slide. He tells great stories with a dry sense of humor. I'd see him anytime you get a chance. |

I understand that he has cowriter credit on his 'Little Martha' for the harmonic melody part he added. |

Nice post DFC.
Leo & the legends.
His baritone voice doesn't fit his wicked pickin, but makes for an interesting contrast.
Pamela Brown is an old favorite.
There is a DVD with a campfire pickin circle with Chris Thile, Bela, Darrol Anger and the bass player from the Sam Bush band. Might have been a Telluride special feature. ____________________ ........the night is very young..... |

Thanks Foppa. The DVD sounds awesome. Having young gun Chris Thile play with the older cats is always cool. Bela is always badass, and Darol Anger, who moved from California to Maine recently, is always into cool musical projects. The bass player would be Byron House, a good guy and heck of a musicians who is also from Bowling Green, KY as is Sam Bush. Come to think of it, I think I do have that Telluride DVD, but haven't watched it in a while.
Meanwhile, Sam and Byron have a brand new album out called "Circle Around Me" which I have been sipping on for a couple of months. It comes out next Tuesday, October 20th. With over 60 minutes of new music offered, Sam explores all aspects of his music career on it, from the progressive newgrass to rock to the traditional stuff he came up on, a couple of duets with Del McCoury, some guest spots by Jerry Douglas and a song that combines a recording of the late New Grass Revival banjo picker Courtney Johnson from 1976 with a new song built around it. Pretty cool.

The tune "Big Sciota" played by The Dirty Bottoms Band in a Porta-John Jam at Clifftop 2009 on top of the New River Gorge in West Virginia as they are rudely interrupted by the honey dipper engineer.
