My heart is broken tonight. I'm no longer Lolasdeb ... just a Deb now. My sweet girl just died in my arms, here in my living room, about an hour ago. I'm relieved that she will no longer have any pain ... this was not a good day for her - major setback for her medically - and I had pretty much made the decision that we would need to make a final trip to the vet tomorrow when tonight she laid her body down and I began to suspect by her labored breathing that these were going to be our last moments together. So I sat next to her and pet her and stroked her head and talked to her and I hope it brought her some comfort ... I know she was having some pain because she cried out periodically but I tried to keep her comfortable and mindful of the fact that she was/is loved. A lot.

I'm thankful for every second of joy she brought to my life and look forward to the next time we get to play I've-got-your-toy. Lola was chosen for me. My friends dog birthed this litter of Rotties and my sis, my boyfriend (at the time), and I all got puppies. And the sassy little runt of the litter was the puppy that my friend decided would be perfect for me and who I ended up chosing for myself after being around her a few times. She has indeed been the one for me and her name sort of chose her - she's always had the heart of a 'Lola'. I hope people get more than one great animal relationship in their lives because I would like to have another dogfriend to share my house with. Lola left some big pawprints to fill but I'm keeping my heart open. I know these next few days are going to feel strange and empty ... no happy, wagging ball of fur greeting me at the door after a hard day at work; no head reaching over the edge of the bed to give a morning face lick; no head in the lap and soulful eyes looking up at me just wanting to be close to me; no more cootchie mama dances that leave me giggling with delight at her silliness; no more unconditional love. *Sigh* Why does love got to be so sad ... indeed.

Thanks for letting me open my heart here...

Awww Deb, I feel for ya, God Love Ya, (((BIG HUG)))

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

So sorry for your loss Deb ... I know how it feels as I lost my Rufus (Red Irish setter) a few years ago ... believe me that the pain will go and the happy memories will remain ... it just takes a bit of time ... much love to you, Colin.

I am so sad with you right now. Deb, you are just the most amazing person. Your words are so well put all the time. Not knowing what was wrong adds to the upset but at least there is no more pain. I know how much you loved her and she you. Please take comfort in knowing we will be there for you... love and hugs to you my friend!

If you are a dog lover, your dog is never a mere pet.
They're part of your family.
This dog lover is very sorry for your loss, Deb...

Deb, I'm so sorry. That was a nice tribute to Lola. It is little solace, but the way it happened is much better for you both than that trip to the vet. I know.

Deb, I am so sorry to hear of sweet Lola's passing and, like Brock, I'm
glad you didn't have to make that trip to the vet. When I first met you online,
I knew you had a doggie named Lola that you loved so much, then you posted
her photo and I saw a big sweet-faced Rottweiler. I had to laugh because that
told me so much about you. I smiled to myself many times thinking of Lola. I know
your heart is broken and you have some difficult days ahead, but I will be thinking
of you and Lola and keeping you close. Sending you love on a wing and thoughts
for healing. Rest in peace Sweet Lola.

Oh No Deb,

I am so sorry and know your pain... If there is anything I can do to help , Please let me know...

I hope Lola meets Jax at Rainbow bridge, he must know his way around and made some friends , he has been gone 4 weeks now... and I am still broken up about it.. I will never be the same.. He was my little light bulb, that has been forever turned off.

Big Hug to you Deb... cry your tears for Lola... it's all part of the Love we have for our pets. You do have to grieve their loss...

Sending Love , strength and comfort to you and family
