So I'm sitting at my desk, entering data for a new course proposal. "Worried Down with the Blues" from ABB 8/8/2003 (thanks, diamondjim!) is pumping from my computer speakers at a respectable level. Derek is in the middle of his solo, when an attractive young co-ed comes in, asking after a certain professor. I answer her question, then she pauses for a second, listening, and asks, "Is that Government Mule?"

I of course, responded with the only thing I could think to say - "Will you marry me?"

I am kidding about my response, I'm happily married and intend on remaining so. Let this serve as inspiration for some of our younger brothers - there are hot young ladies out there who are into this music.

Peace.

We had musical relations (something my wife and I haven't had in quite some time, alas), but no other sort.

Yes, I corrected her and she said, "right, they do Rocking Horse, too, don't they?"

I'm telling you fellas, the perfect woman is out there. Just blast your ABB/Mule/DTB and keep working. She'll turn up sooner or later.

Reminds me of an incident my first week back in class.

I pulled into he parking lot and was geting my stuff ready so I could head on in. I saw this girl looking around like she had lost something. Well she turns and looks at me real funny then gives me a thumbs up, and a big smile. I smile and return the favor. Next thing I know she is standing next to my truck and asking if she can have a seat. She tells me "I love Stormy Monday, its one of my favorite Allman Brothers tracks." Of course I gaveher the seat and we proceeded to miss the 9:00 hour because we were to busy listening to my ABB collection.

We've been friends ever since.

A while back, I went to see the Black Crowes at the Beacon... There, I met a girl who proceeded to dance with me all night... She looked errily similar to Rose McGowan, only shorter and with a nicer smile.

Anyway, the plan was to ask for her number and complete a perfect evening, but somewhere in between "My Morning Song" and "No Speak No Slave", we got separated in the crowd... :-(

I gave my teen-age sons' girlfriend a ride to a football game a couple weeks ago. Took about 1 1/2 hour trip. The next day, my son was asking her about it and he ask her what I listened to on the way.

Her reply--"I don't know what it was, but it sure didn't have much singing!"

First of all, I'm surprised to hear that somebody thinks Rose McGowan is hot...eugh.

You know you don't meet that many guys who actually know that much more about the allmans than ramblin' man when you're 17. let alone somebody who actually knows who derek trucks is. It was quite a pleasant surprise when last year in my study hall i found a buddy who was doodling the stacked allmans logo. i frankly could not believe what i was seeing. we've also been buddies ever since.

i wish a guy would say something to me like that if i said something about music....but i think if it actually happened i would be so weirded out.

Hey, she was a 6 when she walked in the door and a 9 after inquiring about the music ....

Didn't Jimi sing about "if 6 turned out to be 9 ... " ? maybe this is what he meant !!

Tina and I initially met in a chat room quite by accident. (I had just gotten my first computerand was noodling around, blah, blah, blah) One of the big things to do on chat was to answer different comments with sound bites in .wav format. One day just as we were really getting to know one another she answered someone's comment with "allman.wav". I grabbed it and it turned out to be the Duane summit chords from Stormy Monday. Iasked what she knew about it and she told me she knew who Gregg was and that she loved that little piece of music. I made sure she got WELL versed in the ABB by the time we moved in together approximately a year later. Our first road trip to gether was one month later... to Red Rocks and her first ABB show. Gregg, Dickey, Jack, Oteil, Jaimoe, Butch and Marc.
Music is IMPORTANT.

Your right about that Cliff. It is very important to meet someone that loves music as much as you do.

I second that.

And if you can't find a hot girl who likes the Allmans, just get her into the band yourself.

I don't think the band is taking on any more players....I really doubt they'll let anyone else into the band

Interesting. My wife and I met in a Grateful Dead chatroom. Strange, but I guess that musical connection was very important to both of us!!! - Cool stories...

I totally agree with the music connection theory. It may sound shallow, but if there's not at least some common ground in tastes, it can drive you nuts! (I know, first hand). lol

"How come I don't ever meet any of these hot girls that like the Allmans? I see tons of them at the shows, but never do I ever meet any of them outside of a concert. All the attractive women I know just listen to j-lo and madonna and garbage like that."

------hmmmmmmmm, from the proceeding commentary, I take it that if a gal (or a guy) finds a soulmate with ABB tastes, it lasts a long time, but IF they like J-lo and Madonna.......hmmmmmm, me love you short time , so in the famous words of Stephen Stills, and if you are lonely, LOVE THE ONE YOU'RE WITH

Cheers

Oh, baby, oh baby, talk about music to groove on and on, in the words of DS, "all through the night"

I noticed you and peachmaster of the folding universe are posted one next to the other, doesn't that violate the rules of peach posting.....matter vs anti-matter
