Got a $30 dollar airfare so am taking my daughters to Cleveland next weekend. Would appreciate any tips and suggestions regarding a weekend there. Of course we will visit the museum. Any other things of interest, restaurants?

If the Indians are in town, that's always a good choice.

There is a science museum right by the R&R HOF.

Check the House of Blues schedule and see if anyone is playing there.

I've been to Cleveland twice and downtown closes up pretty early except for a couple of places.

How did you get such a cheap airfare?

I found Cleveland to be a singularly depressing city outside of the R&R HOF. But you can easily spend an entire day there.

We spent two days at the R&R HOF over the summer and greatly enjoyed it.

However, I agree Cleveland isn't the most exciting town.

If you have time maybe you can seek out the manager, and tell em to get their act together and induct YES, JETHRO TULL, RUSH, MOODY BLUES, JIMMY BUFFETT, CANNED HEAT, JOHNNY WINTER and PAUL BUTTERFIELD.

(I don't know if you're a fan of any of the aforementioned bands, but perhaps you can do me a favor)

Wow, good thing the hotel has a pool. Guess me and the girls will take a swim and order room service.

Have never been to Cleveland but I have had folks tell me that there are some cool neighborhoods for doing things like art gallery visits, shopping (can't remember the exact ages on your girls, Julie, but I'm thinking they are of an age where they might enjoy something like this). Don't know if you guys are into museums but their art museum looks fairly nice and is having a Paul Gauguin special exhibit. I'm thinking there is a pretty large amusement park in Cleveland (or probably in the suburbs), too, if your gals like rides. Killer deal on those plane tickets!

We'll do some walking and see what they have. I did hear the Warehouse district has some nice shops and galleries. It's just a short weekend. Arrive Saturday home on Monday. Figure we will spend all day Sunday at the Hall of Fame.

If I do speak with a manager it will be about Tom Dowd and the genius of Layla. Maybe a word or two about Leon Russell. He should be in just for his session work alone.

Go into a local bar and take a "LeBron James shot".......without telling the bartender, fill your hand full of a handful of sugar/powder, then throw back whatever shot you want and with both your hands cupped, throw all the sugar/powder up in the air like LeBron (or as we like to refer to it here in Chicago "like LeBron does now that he saw Jordan do it for his whole career")

The look on the bartender's face will be nothing short of priceless, this I can promise. Then I'd advise getting the hell out of the bar.

'Wilberts is always cool...but maybe only 21+. The Warehouse district is definitely cool and happenning.

Cleveland isn't THAT bad, everyone! It's come a helluva long way in the last 15 years...
