Tough call on best show of 2009. I have AUD FLAC of the 09 Beacon Run and I would say good luck picking the best of. While I have only listened to 3 of the 2009 Beacon shows they all seem to be of very high quality. I got stuck listening to 3/12/2009 most of the summer and could not get past it since it was so amazing. 3/12/2009 is one of my all time favorites, and the second set with “I Know Your Rider” followed by 21 minute Elizabeth Reed is the stuff for history books.
As far as the May and August runs, I have only heard AUD of the Bethel Woods show. I have listened to it 3 times and it is a truly great show. As you mentioned Greg was in peak form. I though his vocals were just amazing.

Anybody else have any 2009 favorites so far?

The show I caught in So. Cal in May with the Doobie brothers opening definitely does not qualify for this honor.

Almost impossible to pick one show IMO.

8/28 Great Woods and 8/29 Hartford might be the best weekend of ABB/WSP music so far though.

I bet the upcoming leg of 2009 will have some contenders.

I'm sure that the Merriweather show that I'm going to on 10/6 will be the best...since its the only show I can go to on this tour.

I had fun at the Greek Theater shows especially the second one. They were also the only ones I attended.

I enjoyed a re-run on Moogis Friday evening. It was a pretty awesome show. I can't remember which date it was. Really no favorites for me. Saw them six times in the last year and loved every show.

Hey John, I did the same Moogis thing this W/E! Thank you, Butch! My favs so far - 3/26, then 3/23 ( with Kingpins & WSP sitins) and the first set of 3/28! the First three songs just cook and then Chuck sits in for 3! Stormy Monday, Come & Go Blues , then Jessica! The cat just takes them to another level! He and Warren do a call & response setion on Come & Go Blues that's just awsome. Then Jessica is as always a thing of pure beauty when he plays it! He salutes Duane with a Little Martha solo in Jessica as well. I would have hated to have Been Phil Lesh & Bobby Weir and had to follow that!! I am counting on having to amend this poist after this W/E in Charlotte! I feel sure that Paul Riddle will be there one or both nights, so we can count at least one Jessica!

Warren played the Dreams solo in Bethel, not Derek.

Of the 3 shows I saw this summer (Mountain Jam, SPAC, Bethel Woods), I'd also say that Bethel was the best of the three.

I would say it's a toss up between five or six of the incredible Beacon shows. The summer shows are good but they don't really compare IMO.

Beacon aside, Derek mentioned in a WRLT interview last week that Red Rocks was among the best shows he'd been a part of with the band...

I love to hear that Derek said that! I was at this show and thought it probably the best I'd ever seen them. They played with a lot of fire and passion and proved to me that they're more artists than rock 'n rollers.

And yes, I'm also expecting that the "yet unannounced" Georgia shows will be even better!

I gotta say that the Red Rocks Dreams/Elizabeth Reed just stupendously good, some of the best playing that I've ever heard from this band.

I like a lot of them, no doubt.

Personally, I keep going back to the 3/14 (I think) the segment with Randy Brecker and Lenny White particularly during In A Silent Way and then later on with the double bass work of Oteil and Stanley Clarke. Pretty darn good in my book!
