Hello, everyone.

Well, today it has been two months to the day that my wife passed away. I can’t say things are back to normal – who knows when they might be – but we have managed to revert to some sort of routine that is keeping us engaged and reasonably productive.

I know I’ve thanked many of you already, in emails, PM’s, phone calls and in a few fortunate cases, in person. However, I wanted to take this opportunity to offer a big, public “Thank You” to all of those who have kept me in their thoughts and prayers, have sent letters, cards, emails, and private messages, made phone calls, and have offered their support and encouragement in a variety of ways. Thank you also for the substantial monetary support – whether made directly via gifts, or indirectly through auctions, the “shots of love” project at Wharfstock, or other forms of fundraising. The funds received have truly made these rough times more manageable. I shared this with a few people, but even before the tragedy, things were pretty tight financially. Your generosity has helped in a variety of ways, allowing me to get caught up on virtually all of my bills, take care of back-to-school expenses, provide a bit of a cushion (to be put toward near future moving expenses), and even allow us a couple of treats.

For a while I tried to keep track of everything, so that when my life returned to some degree of normalcy, I could respond appropriately. Well, the volume of support was so overwhelming that I lost track pretty quickly, so I was unable to keep an accurate tally of who gave what. So, I am asking you to forgive my lack of organization, and to everyone who helped to every degree, please accept my most sincere thanks for helping us out in our hour of greatest need. It is truly appreciated, and will always be remembered.

However, despite my lack of accounting skills, there were a number of gifts of both money and time (organizing fund-raising activities) that blew me away to such a degree that they would be impossible to get lost in any shuffle. So, to islalala, Julie (chicagofan), Jeanne and Johnny, Lee, Wharfrat, Captain Skipper, Slimzimm, ruthelane, harvey, robslob, oldcoot, HtoHe, and Jacquie, thank you very, very much.

Please understand that I’m not trying to rank anyone’s generosity, for I am truly thankful for all the support I’ve received, but in these cases above, upon receipt I just had to take a second and say, “Whoa.”

That’s about it, I guess. Thank you very, very much. This is a wonderful place, and I’m glad I’m a part of it.

Your friend,

Randy

Hey Randy. I never did say how shocked and sorry I was to hear the news of your wife's passing. I know the sadness you feel my friend,11 years ago this month I was unfortunate enough to find my wife passed away at home from a cerebral hemorrhage. It was devastating to say the least. I hope time heals your wounds.

What a wonderful post Randy. This goes to show there are still many folks from here who believe in the random acts of kindness. People who are not selfish and care deeply for the well being of others! May God watch over you and your family and the love and friendship from all over keep you up and feeling good!

Beautiful post Randy. Obviously none of us can imagine what you have gone through but I think we are all more than happy to have helped in the ways that we could. It was nice to get to see you.
