Hey to all. Wondering if anyone on this site plays disc golf at all? Or if you have heard of it. It is basically like ball golf, except every hole is usually just a par 3, and there can be many obstacles; trees, elevation, tricks shots. To finish the hole you must land your disc(frisbee) in a metal basket above ground, compared to landing a ball in a hole in the ground. I have played in about 15 different courses in 4 different states, and currently call my home course Dexter, in Dexter, OR here is a link
http://www.dgcoursereview.com/course.php?id=439

Anyone out there? What course do you play?

I used to play quite a bit in New Lenox and Joliet, IL. It's funny to see you post this because I just found a course over the weekend at a park in Summit, IL while I was watching my daughter play soccer. Now I just have to find all my frisbee's.

This was being promoted at Mountain Jam this year. I was able to view the course that was set up when I took a ride on the chair lift. Looked pretty interesting the way the course was set up.

thats where I started playing in Illinois. By elk grove village and such. There are about five courses there i have played there. Roselle, bartlett, two in streamwood and elk grove village.

as for the mountain jam promoting it. that is awsome, the sport needs more exposure and it is so fun to play.

My boys seem to be addicted - there are courses in Orland Park, Joliet and Mokena that they go to. If someone calls and wants to play, they'll go 3 times in the same day.

My son was glad they had a course in a park near the college he is going to.

I just played a course with my son last week off of Clavey road in Highland Park. I liked the course. I also played a course in Palatine- Quintin, north of Palatine road that was very tough. Lots of tall grass. Spent most of the time looking for the frisbee. I've heard about the course in Elk Grove by Meacham and Biesterfield, but I haven't played it yet. We had a real nice 18 hole course in Mukwonago, Wisconsin that we played quite a bit. It's ranked as one of the best in the state. When I was in High School, there was a course at Gilson Park on Lake Michigan in Wilmette. That's where I got started. They removed the baskets years ago- they didn't like all us young hippie types coming to their town.

I've played 10 - 12 times. Two pretty nice courses north of Atlanta, one in Alpharetta and another in Woodstock--I'd play that one with my son before and after his soccer practices for some quality time together.

I first started probably 4-5 years ago when I was in one of my periodic funks regarding real golf (I consider myself a "recovering" golfer and I fall off of the wagon every once in a while). Anyway, I watched some guys play and thought it looked fun. Happened to stumble across a disc in a creek and took a few shots. First tee shot started great, curved left, hit a tree and went into the creek. So much for not as frustrating as real golf!

Still, much quicker, better exercise, and cheaper equipment.

I've played for years. Last weekend the day after the Red Rocks show we went up into the Rockies and played in Frisco at 9,000 ft. Looks like it was a beautiful course before the pine beetle came to town. We still had a blast though, it's along the shores of Lake Dillon.

One can play rounds with a medium-range driver and do fine, but some of us have several discs, long-range driver, medium-range driver, putter.

It was a fairly competitive little "sport" here in San Diego about 25 years ago, played quite a few times back in the day. Here in San Diego, we have Balboa Park...and there used to be a legitimate course there. Could still be there for all I know...

This is in Vancouver B.C.

We have a course in Auburn, NY, about 12 miles from me.

Someone from this site played it a couple years back and asked me about it.

Can't remember who it was, but they played Auburn and then in Ithaca.

Still is a good town and a good course despite the Pine Beetle devistation. The First (hopefully not annual) Pine Beetle Festival is this weekend in Frisco. Nature's way.

I used to play disc golf in Columbus, Ohio back in the late 70's. Still have my 141g Frisbee from those days. Wonder if Renee had one on her property how it'd go.

Many of my guy friends play. They love it. In 2006 when Fig and I went to Colorado for ABB then Aspen for Mule we spent the day on top MT Apsen and he did that course. I couldn't believe it. Not only was he not used to high altitude but the 2nd part and hardest part of the coarse was all on mountain side with drops. There was a guy who said he shouldn't do it unless he already had before... He did well and finished... Pretty cool I thought.

i just started playing, i've played 4 different courses around phoenix, and one in flagstaff. my friends apartment backs onto a course in scottsdale. You could play 2 or 3 holes starting at his patio, plus Dukes (a sports bar) is right around the 1/2 way mark. it makes a good way to kill a couple of afternoon hours.

When someone posts a sign that it may be dangerous to play Frisbee, I'm heading to the bar.

LOL!

I didn't go on the 2nd coarse with him. I waited at the top for what seemed like a very long time. I actually started to panic a bit because I couldn't reach him if I wanted as we had no cell service but then out of nowhere he popped up over the edge.
