This week while the ABB where in the Windy City for 2 concerts,Steely Dan was doing a 4 night run of shows at the historical Chicago Theater where the ABB used to reside for a few years. So we are standing out on the curb looking for Steely Dan tickets at Chicago Theater and the crowd had gone in and pickins were slim. All of a sudden a taxi pulls up and out pops Warren Haynes with a friend of his. We said hello and talked for a minute then he went on in. Within 10 minutes after that we see a guy walk out of the theater as the show was starting with a small girl by his side looking to get a taxi. So we ask the guy if he is leaving the show. He say yes my daughter does not feel well. We asked him for the tickets and he hands them to us and we got in after the first 3 songs for FREE. Then as we are walking out after the show we run into Warren leaving and he is just blown away by the Steely Dan show. We talked again for a few minutes and I asked him about possible ABB shows this year in Atlanta. He said he thought there were still going to be shows somewhere in Atlanta before the end of this year. As we are walking out of the theater another guy comes up from behind us and says,do you guys need tickets for the Friday night show. As we are saying yes he hands us 3 FREE. So that makes 3 out of 4 nights of Steely Dan in Chicago that someone gave us FREE tickets to see the show. The other night we paid $5.00 and all 3 nights so far we have sat in empty seats on the main floor. This run of shows by Steely Dan here has been spectacular to say the least.

ONLY IN CHICAGO

Extremely cool, especially the part where he said he thought there would be some ATL ABB shows by the end of the year.

Ya think that would happen here in NYC?

Great story!

Caught them at the Beacon on 7/31 with Larry Carlton playing guitar the whole evening. They were excellent, but Fagen's voice was a little hoarse because he had a cold. Glad to see Warren has good taste.
Love their tunes and they have a killer band.

While most of the rest of Atlanta was in Piedmont Park seeing Paul McCartney, I was over at Chastain seeing the Dan. Just an incredible show by an incredible band!

I've stated before that I think a double billing of the Allman Brother's Band and Steely Dan would be an outstanding show! Maybe somwhere in Swampf#ck, GA!

Nice to hear Warren is going out on the town. Especially for a concert that he isn't performing at. :-)

Very cool story, Sam! Congrats on having some ticket angels pay you a visit! Love Steely Dan - they put on a great show when I saw them.

There is a night Warren didn't perform? He didn't even sit in with them? Shocking.

I've always loved Steely Dan! That's groovy that Warren went to see them.....Did he play with them at all that night?

Great story. It truely is nice to hear that on the rare date when Warren isn't playing music, he is actually out enjoying music. He truely lives and breathes music. And it's nice to know that some folks actually have some good luck. I bought "Can't Buy A Thrill" when it came out and have enjoyed them ever since. Glad to see them carrying on although it be nice to see them have Larry Carleton along for the ride ... Boy that'd be nice.

Great story!

I saw the New York Rock & Soul Revue that Fagen put together years ago - nothing short of brilliant to say the least!
