I opened a myspace about a year after my friends.
Then friends started to disappear. When they did post
they talked about FACEBOOK?

What is that I asked.
"The new crack", someone answered. So I ventured
over there and opened an account. Lots of people
wanted to be my friend. I sent my friends "gifts" but
they rarely accepted them. Tami sent me a plant every
single day. I love you Spygirl.

There were all sorts of quizzes
and games being played. Everybody was playing Mafia. I didn't
sign up for any games. It seemed a waste of time and the
games seemed middle-schoolish. I was bored. I miss my friends.
I wish they would come back. Maybe I am missing something.

It's all good Ruthie. I don't partake in any of the games and such. I use it to upload video, pictures and general chat. I stay up to date with what people are up to. I like it. The gift and Mafia thing is there but that doesn't mean you have to bother with it. Keep smiling my dear...

I don't play any of the games on there either...I'm a bit disappointed w/it,actually. ..seems like most folks post video after video & that's about it. I thought there would be more conversation....

I agree - I don't play games, and stopped accepting gifts after a few days, and deleted them all. I don't accept any downloads, I strictly use it for chatting and keeping up with people - sometimes feels kinda stalkerish?

You can find me there Dorothyann Connallon - don't worry kids, I don't send stuff.....it fargs up the computer I think...

My wife joined Facebook about 2-months ago after being cajoled by her sister and sister-in-law. Now my wife and I communicate and keep up with all the nieces and nephews, our 2-sons, bothers and sisters, etc. Seems like a great and easy way to keep up with family members spread around the country, posting pics , etc..

I love facebook!

The first day on I found my best friend from high school.

Hadn't heard from him in over 30 years, when he moved back to NY from the apt. we shared in Houston.

He's fighting that cancer bastard, and his siblings were thrilled that we had re-connected.

Some of the apps are stupid, I'm tired of people hitting me with pillows.

But some are downright cool.

Send me old blues masters, concert posters, Gov't Mule songs, LOST stuff, whatever.

I don't hardly ever check myspace anymore.

some of the stuff on facebook is silly. on the other hand, like photoron, i found some long lost friends i haven't been in touch with for decades. it wouldn't have happened otherwise.

I barely managed to figure out how to get on myspace. Facebook will have to go on without me. .

I hope no one gets offended when I ignore there gifts and requests. It just gets too time consuming.

I originally signed up to FB to network to either get more people to see my photography or find a job. Like Ron I've found people I hadn't seen in years. I like FB as Kenny said there isn't the bickering and fighting there yet. The fighting is what has run me away from here, I only come to this site a couple times a week now. Most of my friends from here are on FB so I'm not missing too much.

I really enjoy Facebook, and I enjoy sending assorted gifts. I rarely have pillow fights or watergun fights. However, I do love the Chug It application and all the cool music gifts I receive and send. For me its really an update of whats going on personally in people's lives, even if the status is just "eating a peach!"

I also love seeing all the ABB peeps from here there! FB has been very cool for me, but I have been absent from this great site which brought me to all of ya'll.

Im back now! The food fights are pretty funny though....that's about the extent of how far my fighting goes....hehehe

I signed up on Facebook about 4 months ago. Have reconnected with about 30 old Waukegan friends some of whom I haven't seen in 35 years or longer. Several have left Waukegan but a few are still there. It has been an absolute blast catching up with them and as funny as it seems this many years later we kind of picked right back up where we left off. I think Farmville is a hoot.

I signed on mainly to track down old HS friends for our 30th class reunion. Man, did we have fun at the reunion!! I also reconnected with two younger cousins who live out west. One of them is named after my mother, so that was really sweet. And now, I have a lot of friends from here on my list, too. I don't accept all of the gifts and app requests, some I do, though. I don't think anyone gets upset if you ignore the requests. I don't send any, though. If I take a quiz or some other app, I skip sending it to other folks and just post my own results.

I love Facebook. Eileen and I are neighbors!!! If that doesn't confuse you, we both are farmers. Not Brian Farmers but dirt farmers. I have enjoyed FB quite a bit lately. You know who your talking too on Facebook. I have not been on this site much. It seemed folks were ripping each others heads off over nothing. I got kind of tired of seeing that every time I logged on. Susie and I have made some awesome friends on the ABB site and it has carried over to the FB site. Not only friends from this site but also old school friends, family and new friends too. Its a cool place. You can upload all your pictures to share with folks too.

Facebook is cool, great place to find high school and college friends, I have found many friends from the 70s that I have not talked to since way back when. Also you are able to check in on your kids and their friends to see what is going on, which is a good thing for parents, not so much for your kids! And you can pick and choose when it comes to who you want to talk with so you can stay away from all of the petty crap that goes on here that you have to scroll through just to find something decent to respond too.

I know a lot of folks enjoy FB. I just can't find time for FB, myspace, ABB forums, etc.
It's all good. It is just that I miss the fun on Big Daddy's more than anything. Glad you are back Eileen.

I know what real farming is like. Up at dawn to feed the cows. Clean out the hen nests where they lay eggs, shovel manure
from the cow lot, pick peas, plant potatoes and on and on. Lot of hard work. Then comes wringing the chicken's neck, stepping in manure.
Your pet cow disappears, then suddenly you have beef for dinner every night.
But it was a good place to grow up. Never bored. I just find it very amusing when a gal from Staten Island plays farmer. LOL

So I hope y'all enjoy FB but please stop by here to visit at least.

Facebook is far superior to My Space in that you can instantaneously share photos, news articles, videos and many other items of interest. It has a much more responsive interface than My Space. I would say My Space is over. You can set up a My Space page and check it once in a while and never miss a beat. Facebook is interesting and current. You have to set your privacy settings the way you want them and that means you do not have to have any of what you post be out there beyond your friends or you can have a public profile or you can have a hybrid profile with only certain things visible to the public. If you are a band you even have more options than a regular site. I think Facebook could up their program by providing people with a music player like My Space, but that isn't essential and half the time My Space's player has some issues.

I too don't always respond to various requests for gifts and such but I do occasionally. Mafia Wars is boring and stupid from my perspective and I just ignore it all. Occasionally I take a test or something and only once in a while do I even have it posted to my profile. The choice is yours and no one elses.

If you haven't set up a facebook page, it is very easy to do. NOTHING LIKE THE PAIN in the toushie that My Space was. You do not need to know html to set up a profile in facebook.

Anyway, it is a great social networking site imho.

If you use it right, it works well on many fronts. If you ignore something from somebody, not a problem. I've also found friends and relatives on there that I hadn't talked to in years, while keeping track of everything going on in Nashville and other music biz-oriented places at the same time. Easy to share articles, video and pics, and you can even post a picture straight from your cell phone to your FB page from wherever you're at as you are given an email address to do it instantaneously.
