I got lucky today...the 1st store i went to had the new Crowes release "Before The Frost" on both cd & Vinyl...I picked up both....The cd is very cool as the label side is made to like an LP w/grooves & all....After listening to it twice,I think i like it even more than "Warpaint" (which I love)....Levon's Barn is def. a great place to record a live LP....excellent !!!

Anyone know the times for their show tomorrow night in NYC? It says show starts at 5. What time do you think Levons coming on?

This is the first album in a long time that I liked on the first listen. Even DTB's Already Free took some time for me to warm up to. This is just a home run for the Robinson brothers. It sounds like the mojo of Levon's barn rubbed off on them in a big way. Looking forward to seeing them in Central Park tonite !

Between the ABB and Panic and this new Crowes record, my head is spinning from all the great music coming at me the last couple of days.....

Good stuff from the Crowes. I have been listening to both since last night. Kinda of a mellow vibe to it at times, I would just like to hear a little more boogie from them, but all and all it's quality music.
It will be interesting to hear/see them on tour and what songs they will play form these two. They usually do a pretty good job of playing their whole catalog and mixing setlists.
I will be catching them here in Indy in November.

They are appearing tonight at SummerStage at Central Park in NYC with Levon Helm. Black Crowes headline and are on last.

Song sounds great. definitely looking forward to the Indy Show!

Does any else find it a bit odd that Luther still has no mic?

Yeah, I was thinking the exact same thing when watching that video, odd.
I was reading Guitar Player magazine about a year or so ago after Luther got into the band and from what Rich said,Luther is just here to play guitar.

I am not sure how much Luther contributes to the song writing. I know on the new one
song writing credits got to Chris and Rich, it's always been the Robinson Brothers Band. It's a shame, thought he would be more involved in the writing process and maybe some vocals. Luther is very talented, why not use him? Oh well, maybe he wants it that way.

Goin' to see them tonight in Central Park... Levon Helm's opening which just ain't right. I'll give the Crowes five songs and if they haven't hooked me at that point, I'm out.

They might be playing heavy on the new one(s).

Man this download crap irritates me. Just got the cd. Loved the first half, went to download the flac files and had a computer error... (actually a "user" error) accidentally hit cancel, went to do it right and now it won't let me download... what kind of crap is that? Of course I had the cd sent to me, and of course UPS wouldn't deliver it, had to pick it up, so I had to wait. Now I get it and I still can't hear the whole thing... I have a feeling the customer service won't get back to me until the weekend, when I'm out of town, probably only give me 2 days to "redownload" and I'll miss that opportunity... I know I'm sounding quite negative, but I'm really missing the days of going to a record store on release day and buying a record, coming home and actually getting to hear it!

Really? I would be surprised if you did not like them. They have been on the road for some time now and are sounding excellent.
I have plenty of shows from late last year and this year.
You want me to send you a few?

I also saw that Jim Weider will be the guitarist with Levon tonight. He was the guitarist for the Band after Robbie Roberton left. That should be a nice treat!

I just picked it up after seeing this thread thanks Hugh. I have only listened to it once and my initial reaction is so-so. I defiantly liked Warpaint a whole lot more on the initial listen. Still to be fair I need to hear it some more. Iím thinking the plane ride to Denver will be a good time to focus on it. Also I think more Luther input would serve them well just my .02
