Seems like an odd choice but Zakk had an ABB cover band at the time.
We heard about it in the lot, I was the only one who knew who he was. Certainly not the greatest ABB show ever & obviously it didn't work out but all these years later I'm glad I was there.
Funny as H**L seeing the looks on the bands faces esp. Warren when Zakk pulled out his heavy metal moves....

I Listen to this show often.
IF you can get past Zakk's heavily chorused tone, what he is playing is very good.
some can't get past it.
I think it is a fun show.

zakk's band,"Pride and Glory" wasn't a "abb cover band", that is not accurate.
"Pride and Glory" was a southern rock band. Zakk was into all the bands lumped in this "genre"
I think he pissed off Gregg at the sound check because the version of "Dreams", Zakk knew was
the MTB version. so it didn't get off to a good start.
"Pride and Glory" put out several records of original material.
(I have several)
not a cover band.

I wasn't referring to "Pride and Glory" & yes, he was playing in an ABB cover band on the side. One of the ABB crew was aware of that and suggested him to management.
Never heard the MTB version of "Dreams" though ____________________ "Please don't confront me with my failures ... I'm aware of them" |

I think thats the version of Dreams that MTB does on Molly Hatchet's 2nd LP. ____________________ If we practice and eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth, soon the whole world will be blind and toothless. -Mahatma Gandhi.

I give it a spin every month or so.
David Helm was going to remaster it at some point, haven't heard from him in ages. ____________________ Hittin' The Web::Hugh Duty Memorial Giveaway has begun!

mmmm, no he wasn't in an Allman's cover band. I can't seem to find the interview online right now, but it's with Warren and he states that the way that Zakk got hooked up with the Allmans for this one show was because at the time the Allmans and Zakk shared the same manager or someone in the Allmans management was friends with Zakk's manager, or friends with Zakk and suggested to them that this guy is a huge fan of the band, can obviously play the guitar and would be able to come in on short notice and make it so they didn't have to cancel the show. Phone calls were made and the morning of the show Zakk and his gear flew from LA to New England just in time for soundcheck. Another funny part of the interiew concerning this show was Warren saying "That'll never happen again." He said it while laughing so he wasn't knocking Zakk at all, though I'm sure lots of people here are going to take it that way. |

And I don't have the magazine w/ the Zakk interview anymore....
Whatever, apples & oranges. I always get a kick out of the "Zakk" thread when it pops up.
Pretty impressive that he was able to fly in the day of the show & play at that level.
BTW lets set things straight. It's "Dreams I'll Never See" and it's on the FIRST Hatchet record.
Get it right next time Haisija ____________________ "Please don't confront me with my failures ... I'm aware of them" |

I remember an interview with Zakk about this and he said something about Gregg saying, "Brother Zakk, calm down a little". or something to that effect. It was in a Guitar World I believe. I'll have to see if I can find it.

Who were some of the others who subbed for Dickey back in '93? I know Popper & Jimmy Herring did the one in Stowe, Vermont. And I think Jack Pearson did a couple. Who else? ____________________
