So I had the pleasure of going to the Jones Beach show last week. I never want to hear anyone around here bad mouth Rockiní Horse again! Yes, I know it has been played close to as many times as Soulshine, and I donít really know **** about music, but what I do know is that song seems to be a great jam vehicle for them, and last week they kicked the living hell out of that song. They went from a full on freight train assault with Warren taking the lead, to stopping on a dime and then Derek took over for a jam that was off the charts, so quiet at first, then turning into this beautiful light and airy sort of jam that really lifted off. See I told you I donít **** about music, I just know how it felt and soundedÖand it was real fine.

So no more badmouthing Rockiní Horse! You will sit there and like it damn it. ;-)

Oh yeah, and the drum ensemble (not a solo damn it!!) that night during Liz Reed was phenomenal too.

This really is the greatest band in the land.

I admit I'm one of the guilty ones! But you are right, the Rockin Horse jam at the Beach was definitely classic!

(By the way can I keep bad mouthing "Woman Across The River"? That is the other overplayed Warren song )

I totally agree about Rocking Horse. It is consistently the best jam of the night. You do know a little something about music
I would take RH over Melissa, Midnight Rider, Van Morrison or most of the other songs on the regular playlist, anytime.

That too is off limits, but only because the last two times I have seen it (Jones Beach and the first set of the Beacon from the first night Clapton sat in), they killed it. I need to hear it at least 40 more times before we can put it on the shelf! ;-)

By the way, does anyone know if that little intro they played just before Rockiní Horse was Miles Davis In A Silent Way? I canít remember if it was during that or something else, but I felt like I heard that at some point at Jones Beach.

I have an Instant Live from Rockford, IL in 2004. They played that effing song for 45 minutes. I've never listened to the IL. That's why I now wait until after the show to decide if I want to buy it. And there was no place to escape the sound at this place.

Anyway, PM me your address and I'll send it to you if you'd like it.

And I refuse to stop badmouthing the song. And I sure as hell won't sit there and like it!

Every time I have seen the ABB play that song Warren always tears it up at solo time. I like the tune!!

I coudn't agree more... And so does "Woman Across The River" for that matter.

I haven't been watching the setlists closely but I haven't seen "Desdemona" or "Maydell" played lately... Wonder if those have fallen out of favor?

Desdemona, Sun. in Hartford.

Jim- it seems that derek and oteil always hint at "In A Silent Way" right after warrens solo. Almost every version i have heard they tease it before headin into dereks solo.
