I know their is a lot of speculation of what these guys are going to do after this tour.slowing down and everything.I would love to have your opinions I think they will do about 30 shows in 2010 that is including the NYC run I would not be surprised that the original members will get that urge after a year or so of "slowdown" and want to either get in the studio(maybe wishful thinking on my part) or at least GAF expands their tour. They will get bored .I can't imagine them not wanting to do live shows who wouldn't want thousands of fans screaming at ya! It has to be an adrenaline rush.A new dvd or live album will be on it's way in the new year I hope.

what do YOU think the ABB will do in the future?

Imho, Derek is the key. W/out him, I'd rather see GAF or the dtb.

i think the ABB will do the beacon run for as long as they can and will tour the northeast for a month every summer. that is it.

i also think that if jaimoe is unable to tour, that they would still carry on.

I had a vibe this year was it. But after listening to Gregs recent Camden, NJ interview I'm wrong. Hint of a possible new recording.

I took 'note' upon receiving my Hittin' the Note today that Derek made no mention of 'leaving the band' whatsoever. No talk regarding 'this final effort'....blah, blah, blah. I'm sure it's going to slow down but he spoke in glowing terms of the CURRENT lineup. He ain't goin' nowhere.....neither is the band as long as they stay healthy.

I think they will do as they said and scale it down, probably to around 20-30 shows per year.

I don't think we'll ever see anymore new music from them.

I think next year will hinge on where they play the March N.Y.C. run. Butch already said the Beacon is not having them back for next years run. A smaller run in a not so favorite N.Y.C. venue might give us more dates in the Summer months. Lets just hope they find a cool place to do the March run.

I know a lot of people don't want to hear this, but I think after this year, the ABB are going to hang up their "rock n' roll" shoes. In the future it's going to be dTb, Govt Mule, and GA & F. No more Beacons, no more Wanees, ect. Seriously, what do you do after forty years? The ABB has accomplished everything a band can accomplish and then some, it's about time to retire it, as they're going out at the top. How much better than that can be?

they will do what brings in the bucks do a Yearly Beacon run and then hit the east coast where they draw excellent. Maybe do a few festivals and keep Wanee going.

There's always Town Hall in NYC, seats about the same as the Beacon. Has held Rock shows in the past. Located in the 50's(?) between 6th and 7th Ave's .

Town Hall is on 43rd street. It's a great venue and I saw the dTb put on a very good show there a few years back. But it's only about half the size of the Beacon. It seats a bit less than 1,500 compared to 2,800 for the Beacon. That might not work.

Sorry, couldn't resist that last post.
Gregg has already said he's bringing GAF into the studio early next year and about the ABB, he didn't know if they were going to do a new album anytime soon. I'm hoping they can get something going in Derek's studio. I loved Already Free.
I think they'll find another NYC venue they could call home. And we'll all go to the shows and we'll start a new tradition. It was inevitable after Yogi's went out of business. The end of a decade, er make that four. But the beginning of decade number five.

They'll hang out on ABB.com and chime in on Dickey and Clapton threads. They'll come out to the Strat's and chill with them.

My guess: A NYC spring run - it's easy money to camp in one place for a month. Limited Summer tour - scaled back considerably - ala Buffett say.

As far as new music, I think only another tragedy would prevent them from releasing at least one more effort.

Last prediction - life is long and feelings change. Dickey will be back someday. Regardless of how things seem now, time heals most wounds and Dickey's return could bring the energy for a final cd and farewell tour.

I hope at least to continue to play some dates throughout the year!
I would not expect any new music from these guys, I think that window has passed, but I could be wrong.
