((((Takes pull on favorite beverage and steps up to the podium))))

Ladies and Gentlemen and OldDirtRoad: Welcome to the First annual Peachies! A lot of nice looking people in the crowd this afternoon! You folks made this happen, so let's start this off by giving yourselves a big ol’ joyful noise!!!

The Peachies were created to honor the accomplishments of the Allman Brothers Band and the wonderful community we have right here on the forum. So first off, I’d like to take a minute to say thank you to Lana and Rowland for providing us with an outlet to do this. Your hard work and dedication to this family of web sites has not gone unnoticed – it’s much appreciated. Thank you! Also, I’d like to thank Pam and TopDroog for taking the time to make the wonderful Peachy Awards and Certificates to be given out to this year’s winners. And also to LinnieXX, HoochieCoochieGirl and TerriB for taking a Sunday afternoon out of their busy schedules and counting all the votes, even if all they really did was sit back, listen to music and drink…..and last but definitely not least, all of you out there in cyber land, not just the ones who voted, but all of you that come to this site and make it fun to keep coming back….thank you!

Ok, on with the show…

But first, I want to say a few words. As many of you know, this month I have been going state-to-state to raise awareness of the need to properly shave your face. Last night, I was arrested by the South Dakota State Highway Patrol. It seems that an anonymous tipster reported strange documents left behind at the scene of my last refueling, which must have fallen out of my pocket, and notified the police. Upon pulling me over, the officer in charge pulled me from the car and handcuffed me when he found a large stack of Peachy ballots on the seat beside me. On the ballots were such innocent terms as “Hophead” and “Yurtle420” and what appeared to be “code names” and I was immediately arrested and spent the night in Mitchell, SD. It took a lot to convince the nice State Troopers that I was harmless and those “aliases” on the ballot are actually fine, upstanding citizens….But I did it…..a lesser man may have cracked under pressure. OK, enough about me. THE SHOW MUST GO ON!

First, I want to bring to the stage, someone very dear to me. In fact, a few years ago we shared sort of a cyber cosmic connection when we crossed over the 500 post barrier at exactly the same time…..but since then, it’s been nothing but John this and aiq that…..no love for the Razor Guy…..well, anyway, here’s Enigmajean to present the Peachy for the Best Family Band…..

EJ, to the stage please…..

Hi, Chad, and thank you for that kind introduction. I thought I'd find you hanging around here...

Our first award is for the Best ABB/HTW Family Band. And the winner is appropriate in that they represent the continuation of the original band's bloodline...into the next generation.

The Peachy Award for Best Family Band goes to...

The Derek Trucks Band!

Wooowooo...Way to go DTB!

Coming in second was Dickey Betts and Great Southern and third was Gov't Mule!

The next presenter spends most of his time occupying various administration buildings, smoking Thai-stick, heckling the ROTC, and bowling. Did you ever hear of the Seattle Seven? Well, that was him and six other guys. So now to present the Peachy for Post of the Year, a man larger than life and a name to prove it: Goliath.

It’s all yours my Man….

While we're waiting for Goliath....

And now to present the very coveted award of Best Live Song of the Year, our very own Sbowen….Unfortunately, Sbowen couldn’t be with us today, but through the miracle of modern science, he comes to us via satellite:

"I really wish I could have been here today to present such a fine award for Best Live Song, with so many potential winners this year, but unfortunately I'm away on business working on another project. Without further ado, the winner for Best Live Song of 2003 goes to.........................LAYLA, 3/21/03, AT THE BEACON THEATRE IN NEW YORK CITY."

Layla 3/14 received the second most votes and pulling off the hat trick, Layla 8/8 was third.

Still waiting on Goliath.....

But on to the next presenter.....I want to tell you a little about our next presenter. First of all, go search out all of his posts on this forum….you’ll be glad you did. Every one of his posts contains a little history, a little nugget of information I guarantee you didn’t know before. His posts contain riveting stories about this great band’s past, present and future…Please, do yourself a favor and go back and check them out….This guy was also instrumental in bringing an incredible voice and blues guitar to this great family of websites (That’s Donna Hopkins, if you’re keeping score at home). If that wasn’t enough, he single handedly named this award show. Ok, enough fluff….please welcome to the stage, Hophead, to present the Peachy for the Drum Solo of the year….

Hophead, take it away!
