According to recent polling the lies from reform opponents are sinking in...

45% of Americans believe Obama's plan includes “death panels”

55% believe the bill will extend health insurance coverage to illegal immigrants even though no proposals currently under negotiation would do so.

54% believe the overhaul will lead to a “complete” government takeover of the health care system, although there is also no actual proposal for that, either.

50% believe that the overhaul will use federal tax dollars to pay for abortions. Current law bans federal funds from being used to fund abortion except in cases of rape, incest, or to save the mother’s life and the president has said he is not interested in expanding abortion rights in the health care package.

62% said they disapprove of the way Republicans in Congress are handling health care reform, while only 21% approve (Obama's numbers are 47% disapprove, 41% approve).

Heck, Washington has been doing it with much of the population regarding the stability of things like Social Security, Medicare, deficit spending, and countless other issues. Politicians split the citizens and run campaigns of class envy based on taking from one to give to another, as if that's somehow going to make the nation a better, stronger place. Yup, you can fool a lot of people about all sorts of things

LUKE, care to elaborate on "now we're gonna pay for everyone's health insurance"? What exactly does this mean and what information led you to that conclusion? Please, be specific.

NO NO NO,,,,i forgot ! First we gotta do the health reform gig .Then it'll all get better ,right ?

You said "now we're gonna pay for everyone's health insurance". I asked what exactly does this mean and what information led you to that conclusion in specific terms. Can you even make an attempt at doing that?

Maybe i'm missing something here. But hasn't that slick tounged Obama been ranting on and on about health coverage for all ? Well, who's gonna pay for it ? I thought America was broke,or right on the verge.

Clearly, you are indeed missing something here (but don't feel bad because you are not alone). It is not called UNIVERSAL HEALTHCARE and the plan that is being debeated does not even imply that "now we're gonna pay for everyone's health insurance" (whatever that means, since you still did not elaborate).

Actually, this relates directly to the first post of this thread...I couldn't ask for a better straight man (pun intended). The tube is consumed with talk of "death panels" and protesters equating Obama with Hilter...so if TV headlines and this site are the only places you get your info then I guess you simply can't back up your "now we're gonna pay for everyone's health insurance" assertion since you've now made it pretty clear that you are just repeating the headlines that fit your agenda (whatever that may be).

Did anyone watch Olberman last night when the guy who used to work at the insurance company explained how insurance is going to get about thirty five cents of your dollar back. The way I understood it right now insurance has co-pays but the republicans in congress are pushing something through that will allow them to do away with co-pays and stick the consumer with a thirty five percent co pay. Right now I think it's mostly at twenty. That means if you go into the hosptial and incur a hundred thousand dollar medical bill you'll have to fork over thirty five thousand of it. This whole issue affects more than the uninsured. Everyone with private insurance needs to do some research on this topic.

That's the point people are missing. I just found out my HMO Plan through UGA (my employer) is going to increase another $50/month! I'm already paying around $300, up $80/month from 2008. And the insurance company is increasing UGA's portion of the premium too, making my plan cost over $1000 in total. And on top of that, I still have to pay $15 copay. Don't even get me started on my crappy dental plan and it's cost of so-called "coverage" lolol It's a joke.
Also, I want to know who decided teeth and eyes are luxury items that aren't necessary to our overall health. Apparently, we're still living in the dark ages when it was acceptable for your teeth to rot out of your head and you were lucky if you had good eyesight! lol
That's just antiquated thinking that needs to be adressed as well.

This is the problem with cable outlets like Fox who pass themselves off as legitimate news organizations. They shill for the corporations and health insurance industry. They are owned by Rupert Murdoch and his entire career and empire was built on dishonesty and sensationalism.

We already pay for everyone's health care -- that is the ones that don't have insurance.

If someone go to a ER, they cannot be refused treatment, and if they don't have insurance, we ALL pay for it. That includes illegal aliens and those who can't afford it. So now they are going to have to kick in a little.

No more slackers, like a coworker of mine who didn't have insurance even though he could have afforded it, and he BROKE HIS NECK and the state picked up the tab, i.e., our tax dollars paid for his care.

Palin started that crap about death panels. She dumb.

This plan won't affect the elderly because they have Medicare. They're not included.

And the state govt. is the death panel now anyway. If you are in a nursing home and have declared Title "whatever it is," the state is paying for your nursing home care and they encourage you to sign a Do Not Resuscitate order. Once you get really sick they stop feeding you and start injecting the morphine.

There are no 'death panels' per se but government entities WILL be determining who is deserving and of what care hence they will essentially be deciding who lives and who dies. That is indisputable.

If the government is controlling the purse strings it can't NOT be true. The only way to save money on healthcare (even with mondo tax hikes) is not to spend as much - hence somebody is going to get the shortest straw.

Show us where it says that. You're just another fear mongering lying conservative. You have nothing so you invent lies and pass them off as facts. You never prove a damn thing and then log off when shown to be wrong. We've been down this road with you before.

It DOESN'T say that Johhnyboy, because your messiah is LYING to the American people. How else could it work? Show us.

My Messiah is Jesus. He doesn't lie to me. You, however, have made something up that you just admitted you cannot prove and has no basis in fact. That makes you a liar. But we both knew that, didn't we?

Answer the question, Johhnyboy. Get over your fascination with me for a moment. How else could it work? Short of rationing healthcare to the 'least deserving' how will BarryO's power grab save money?
