Why is President Barack Obama in such a hurry to get his socialized medicine bill passed?

http://spectator.org/archives/2009/07/24/weve-figured-him-out

Because he and his cunning circle realize some basic truths:

The American people in their unimaginable kindness and trust voted for a pig in a poke in 2008. They wanted so much to believe Barack Obama was somehow better and different from other ultra-leftists that they simply took him on faith.

They ignored his anti-white writings in his books. They ignored his quiet acceptance of hysterical anti-American diatribes by his minister, Jeremiah Wright.

They ignored his refusal to explain years at a time of his life as a student. They ignored his ultra-left record as a "community organizer," Illinois state legislator, and Senator.

The American people ignored his total zero of an academic record as a student and teacher, his complete lack of scholarship when he was being touted as a scholar.

Now, the American people are starting to wake up to the truth. Barack Obama is a super likeable super leftist, not a fan of this country, way, way too cozy with the terrorist leaders in the Middle East, way beyond naďveté, all the way into active destruction of our interests and our allies and our future.

The American people have already awakened to the truth that the stimulus bill -- a great idea in theory -- was really an immense bribe to Democrat interest groups, and in no way an effort to help all Americans.

Now, Americans are waking up to the truth that ObamaCare basically means that every time you are sick or injured, you will have a clerk from the Department of Motor Vehicles telling your doctor what he can and cannot do.

The American people already know that Mr. Obama's plan to lower health costs while expanding coverage and bureaucracy is a myth, a promise of something that never was and never will be -- a bureaucracy lowering costs in a free society. Either the costs go up or the free society goes away.

These are perilous times. Mrs. Hillary Clinton, our Secretary of State, has given Iran the go-ahead to have nuclear weapons, an unqualified betrayal of the nation. Now, we face a devastating loss of freedom at home in health care. It will be joined by controls on our lives to "protect us" from global warming, itself largely a fraud if believed to be caused by man.

Mr. Obama knows Americans are getting wise and will stop him if he delays at all in taking away our freedoms.

There is his urgency and our opportunity. Once freedom is lost, America is lost. Wake up, beloved America.

Anything that opens up with Michelle Malkin asking for donations isn't worthy of my time or thought.

I'm proud of the fact that I didn't vote for him, wouldn't vote for him as dogcatcher, and have never wavered in my conviction that he's the most dangerous president we've ever had.

May God have mercy on America. He doesn't owe us anything, He could choose to let Obama lead us by the nose into the slaughterhouse, but I pray for His mercy all the same. If He gives us what we deserve, we're gonna have a rough future.

Do you really feel that way? I'll admit I felt that way about Bush and wasn't sure the country could survive the eight years he was president. But the country is still here after all. I don't think Obama is going to run it into the ground if Bush couldn't.

America means the majority rules. The majority picked President Obama and the democratic party in this last election. We have chosen mostly republicans before. We have chosen a mix of the two before. Starting next year the American people will exert their will again at the polls. If the current adminsitration is npot meeting the needs of the majority of the people they will be voted out and somebody else will be voted in. Bush was president because the majority of Americans wanted him to be. Many on the loeft thought it was the end of america. It wasn't. Obama is president becuase that is what he majority of Americans want; the majority was fed up with the republicans, who now say the same thing the dems were saying a scant year ago. If you believe in God, do you really think some politician is going to thwart his plans? Relax, take a deep breath, love your nieghbor the same way God loves you. It's going to be okay.

The genius that is Ben Stein:

On March 18, 2007, in a column for CBS News' online version of CBS News Sunday Morning, Stein famously proclaimed in the beginning of the subprime mortgage crisis that the foreclosure problem would "blow over and the people who buy now, in due time, will be glad they did," the economy was "still very strong," and the "smart money" was "now trying to buy — not sell — as much distressed merchandise" in mortgages as possible.[22]
On August 18, 2007, on Fox News Channel's Cavuto on Business, Stein appeared with other financial experts dismissing worries of a coming credit crunch[23]. The lone dissenter was Peter Schiff, who predicted that the mortgage sector would create a crisis leading to massive recession, a view that produced laughter from the other experts. Stein strongly recommended investing in then-troubled financial institutions[23].
Ben Stein: The credit crunch is way overblown. The [financial institutions] are being given away; they're so unbelievably cheap...The subprime problem is a problem, but it's a tiny problem in the context of this economy...It's a buying opportunity, especially for the financials, maybe like I've never seen before in my entire life.
Peter Schiff: This is just getting started. It's not just subprimes. This is a problem for the entire mortgage industry. It's not just people with bad credit that committed to mortgages they couldn't afford. It's not just people with bad credit who are going to see their home equity vanish... This is going to be an enormous credit crunch...
Neil Cavuto: You must be a laugh-riot at parties.
(LAUGHTER)
[...]
Ben Stein: ...subprime is tiny. Subprime is a tiny, tiny blip.
Peter Schiff: It's not tiny. And again, it's not just subprime. It's the entire mortgage market.
Ben Stein: You're simply wrong about that... Defaults for the whole mortgage market are tiny.
[...]
Ben Stein: I think stocks will be a heck of a lot higher a year from now than they are now.
A year and a month later, in the Global Financial Crisis of September 2008, global stock markets crashed, Lehman Brothers went bankrupt, Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac were taken over by the US government, AIG was bailed out by the Federal Reserve, Merrill Lynch was sold to Bank of America Corporation, and Morgan Stanley and Goldman Sachs confirmed that they would become traditional bank holding companies.

Well here's what Nat Hentoff, former long-time writer for the Village Voice and a person who has long been associated with the New Left thinks about both Bush and Obama

On George W. Bush

quote:
Week after week, while most columnists focused their energies on deciding which country the U.S. should next invade, Hentoff played his lone note. A December 2001 article was titled “Terrorizing the Bill of Rights.” While President Bush boasted an approval rating over 90 percent, Hentoff called him “dangerously ignorant of the Constitution,” writing, “This administration violates the Bill of Rights so frequently that there has been little time to organize a national campaign to restore the Constitution.”

On Obama

quote:
But whatever charges he leveled at President Bush, Hentoff is no partisan. “President Obama is a complete phony,” he says. “I still think Bush was a decent person. He didn’t know much about anything, he certainly didn’t understand what was going on around him, but he was not a bad person. Obama is not a decent person. He only cares about the power of Barack Obama.” Hentoff keeps a file on the president’s flip-flops and says it is getting thicker every day: “He’s reneged on nearly every pledge, from the invocation of state secrets to renditions.”

You know what I find so amazingly funny. As the system works now....you pay and insurnace company and they deny coverage all the time and no one seems to mind while they take some of that money "you" paid towards "Health Insurance" and apply it to their "bonuses" and "corproate parties"...but that fact doesn't seem to bother anyone.....but if a government offical was to denys a claim there some big leftist problem.....

My eldery mother under our current "for profit" medical system has been denied care due to her age and medical condition......so is it working for her.....or my family.....no

Please all of you who support "For Profit" medical care...get a grip on reality....you and I are paying to get F#$%^&*ed up the rear....a basic money grab by those who provide nothing towards your care

The New Left I was referring to, was what the Left was called back in the 50's, 60's and 70's. Basically Nat Hentoff has been around a long, long time. Hell, he wrote for the Village Voice for 50 years. So, I curious what Old Left are you referring to?

Sorry to hear about your mother Goldtop. A change is needed but I'm not smart enough to figure it out. I'm leaving it to the geniuses in Washington to figure it out. They state the obvious inherent problems with our medical system, I'm hoping they can pass intelligent solutions. Also as a side note I'm sick of the USA subsidizing the rest of the world for their cost of pharmaceuticals.

No, but why answer the same vague posts over in different threads when your agenda is so obvious? Come up with a solution or something positive to show exactly how health care is so wrong when as a right winger you stood by during Bush's run up of debt for war and the largest movement of wealth ever and it was from the middle class and poor to the rich. The total cost of universal health care is much less than the $trillion given to the rich by Bush.
Your protests are 'cry wolf' bs by the the blind sheep of the right. Never let a fact get in your way.

Being a fan of Ben Stein's acting career and being a fan, or even a follower, of him because of his 'political expertiese' are 2 different things. Hard to take your claims of Ben figuring Obama out seriously, Chevy, when you follow up with a bit part in a John Hughes movie and a commercial with Shaq as reasons for your admiration society.
