20+ time seeing the Mule and again they did not disappoint. Last night was an Old School Mule ass kicking show. I was a little worried about this being the 10th show in 11 nights. I thought maybe they might be worn out but not a chance. All original songs except for two. Jorgen Carlsson is more like Woody's style. He is more out in the open and in your face. My new nickname for him is "Killer" like Dave "Killer" Carlson from Slapshot. I had four friends who saw the Mule for the first time last night and they loved it. They asked me why they never heard of these guys and my response to them was this is not the mainstream of today. If the Mule was from the late 60 and 70's they would be huge. Here is last night's set list. Loved the Left Coast Groovies>World of Difference. Buy the Muletrack of this show.

Set 1

Blind Man In The Dark
Perfect Shelter
Gameface
Towering Fool
Fool's Moon
Life Before Insanity
Thirty Days In The Hole
Thorazine Shuffle

Set 2
Stay With Me
No Need To Suffer
Trying Not To Fall
Mule
Drums
Left Coast Groovies
World Of Difference
Lola Leave Your Light On
Encore
Far Away
Soulshine

Real ''old school'' mule ass kicking last nite in A.C. Definitely the heaviest mule show by far that I have ever seen. Maybe not by coincidence it was the first time I have seen jorgen on bass. One word comes to mind for me....''massive'' . The mule now has that huge bottom end back in their sound and for you old school mulers who were kind of dissapointed w/ Andy Hess and you havent seen Jorgen yet, go, it would be impossible for you to be dissapointed. So much so that unless Danny was soloing his sound was lost in that thick rumble. First set was smoking hot. 30 days in the hole was a highlite for me for the nite. Warren had the crowd singing ''I dont need no doctor''. Great crowd, real into the show. Seemed like absolutely everyone there was going to see each other again in 2 weeks when the Allmans play Camden.Cool hangin w/ you guys KPREST, see you guys in Camden.

That's 2 nights in a row for Blind Man, Thorazine, Soulshine & Mule. But nice to see Gameface pulled out though I prefer it with as a sandwhich around another jam i.e. Mountain Jam.

In was second/third row back from stage right in front of Matt and in a perfect spot to watch Warren & Jorgen spar with each other. My most prevalent thought was that the Mule was back in form and it was like the old days again. From my position on the floor at amp line level, I really couldn't hear Danny which made it even more like the old days. The world's most thunderous power trio was back in action for 3 hours as far as I was concerned. I couldn't stop smiling. I hadn't seen Jorgen play yet but I've heard several shows but the recordings just didn't do justice to the dynamics between Matt, Jorgen & Warren. I've got nothing against Danny or Andy and I saw that line-up often and always enjoyed it but this was one kickin' Ass on Saturday night!

Have to agree with all the positive things being said about Jorgen. This was the second time seeing him play. The first time was in November '08 when he only had a few shows under his belt. He was great then but seems much more comfortable now and the entire band seems to feed off his sound. Took plenty of photos but I'm not sure how to post them. Here are some of the videos my daughter took.

I loved this show. Especially Stay with Me and Lola Leave Your Light On.

Also Warren does not do Towering Fool that often, so it was quite moving. Trying Not To Fall is off one of the Deep End discs and is not a new song from the new cd.

Anyway, I loved this show and all the shows these past few weeks. Great band. Great fans.

No worries. Warren's written a lot of songs. And the few I heard from the new cd as they were played by the Mule Van were great, as well as the 2 new ones they brought out this tour.

Only the third time I've ever tried taking pictures at a concert. I used a little point and shoot but I had a great vantage point. Hope you enjoy .
