Check out this customer review from Amazon.com. This guy admits he didnt know anything about the ABB before getting Fillmore East...

quote:
"I got this album strictly out of curiosity. I was always *afraid* of The Allman Brothers Band because I thought of them as some ordinary Southern rock band (WRONG WRONG WRONG!!!).

But after seeing this album rank in the VH1 "100 Greatest Rock and Roll Albums" list, and hearing what was said about it, I figured I'd at least like it.

Talk about exceeding expectations! And having a life-altering experience! Let's just say that my dreams of being a guitar god or being part of a extraordinary team of players is pretty much out the window. These guys put those to rest. Their gifts are pure, natural, and out of this world. But I thank them for giving me this.

I can't say anything more than what's been said. It's absolutely brilliant, breathtaking, and entrancing for its full 1 hour, 18 minutes, and 36 seconds. It is the most amazing blend of rock, blues, and jazz I've ever heard. The musicianship here is probably unparalleled in the history of rock music. And these guys played with the improvisational genius and intensity of our greatest of jazzmen. IT'S THAT GOOD.

When kids today talk about "trance" music, they talk about dance music. I tell them that this kind of stuff is my trance music. I just put this gem on and I'm out of this world for 1 hour, 18 minutes, and 36 seconds.

You cannot have a rock collection and be without this. You just cannot. It would be like having a jazz collection without any Miles Davis.

The album he purchased is the original LP version. If I can find an email adress I might email him and tell him about the full concert Deluxe version.

The opening notes of Statesboro won me over for good.

My review would be less wordy, less eloquently stated, but right to the point.

Best live rock album EVER PERIOD!!!

His comments pretty much summed it up how I felt back in the summer of 72 when I first heard LAFE. It certainly has altered my life to a certain degree. I still listen to vintage Duane shows almost daily even if its just one song. Got to get my daily Duane slide fix.

Best LP studio or live in my opinion.
The guy who wrote the review gets it.
