You do understand don't you that the foreign auto makers have companies over here and employ American workers? That the companies dependent on the auto sales of these companies also employ American workers? It's not the consumer's fault that the U.S. car companies have made crap for so long people don't want to buy them.

Brilliant is one thing you arent. Do you realize that many of those 'foreign' car manufacturers have plants and employ thousands of people here in the states? Hell, the Toyota plant in San Antonio is finally at full staffing (that means JOBS) to produce vehicles. JPB, you consistently prove that you are as clueless as you are easily duped and panicked.

1. Detroyed Assets. I am sure most of these cars that are being turned in have to be in working condition and most were paid for. They turn the car in and then we destroy the engine. The car becomes spare parts at best.

2. I am assuming (yes, I know) that most of the cars being turned in are actually paid for and owned by the consumer. Even if the aren't, Americans are most likely taking out loans to buy these new cars, putting America further into debt.

3. Of course these foreign manufacturers have plants here. But the profits are going back overseas and don't help our production numbers. If they had limited this program to American car manufacturers, then I could maybe get on board with that. They just shipped most of the profits from this deal overseas.

Yep. Brilliant.

I think GM is going to see a 6% Increase in sales, while Ford sees a .5% increase.

Whooo Hooo! The recession is OVER!

Lovely the way you gloated in a prior thread on this subject (which, by the way - believe you started that one, too) how many hot-tub sales you were making over this and now? Sales down this week?

Actaully, I had a great weekend. I sold one pool and 7 spas. I put up $40,000 and was top sales for the company out of ten salesman. I won the weekend bonus contest and had an absolute fantastic weekend. I also recieved a free bonus day off at my choosing for my sales numbers. Sweet! Can you say local economy. We aren't as bad off as some places like California, Vegas, and Florida. We are much more conservative in the midwest.

Funny, you obviously don't know my politics very well. Bush is on the same side as Obama. They are all on the same team and there are very few in DC that aren't. They love playing divide and conquer. It seems to be working great on you.

Lets see if understand this? We borrow the money from China, with interest, so we can give it to Americans so they can buy cars, and then we send the profits from the car sales back overseas.

Did I miss something?

Congratulations. I don't suppose you see any irony in the fact that you have gloated about cash for clunkers being such an income boom for you then turn around and condemn it for more altruistic reasons in the next breath?

Our people are employed and thats what matters. Ford, for example, is posting a profit for the first time in TWO years at this point. Yes, complete failure all the way around.

I am pretty sure not ONE person I sold a spa or pool to bought a new car and used that money from cash for clunkers to go out and buy a hot tub. Cash for clunkers is not injecting more money into the local economy. It is helping out some dealerships, but that is it. The cost vs. the reward for America is way off.

I deal in hydrotherapy and stress relief. There seems to be alot of stress out there and people are not taking vacations like they used to. They are trapped in their homes becuase of home values decreasing and want to make their homes as comfortable as possilble. Hot tubs are a great way to relax and get away from it all.

I guess I'll have to assume your brand of hot-tubs and associated parts are all Made In America.

Yes, you had a great week as you noted in the other thread during the 1-week consumers bought 250,000 new cars. Your customer's were probably car dealership owners.

Wow. This whole paragraph is a perfect example of completely not understanding how this works. Lets say someone bought a spa on the way home from the dealership where they got the maximum benefit from the program. They got a discount of at least $4500 (not including any incentives from the dealer or the auto manufacturer). Thats $4500 they didnt have to put out and its money they arent making payments on. In theory, they have $4500 to 'play with' and be able to spend (if they choose) on a spa where they make the payments to your company. Understand?

But ... but ... in an earlier post in another thread you made a comment indicating your business was up since this program went into affect and insinuated it was due to clunker money going to hot-tubs. Irony, your name is jpb.

But, those people just went FURTHER into debt to get the new car. While the savings is there on paper, it isn't necessarily in their checking account. Like I said, I am pretty sure not ONE person that I sold to bought a new car this weekend, not one.

There is still some financing going on out there. People are taking advantage of the 12 months SAC w/payments programs. While most of the high end product being sold are cash deals. The middle class buyer has been the big drop off in spa sales as they are being squeezed the worst in this down economy.
