The show is usually great but sometimes getting out of the venue after the show can be hell. This summer I was in a venue with a vast parking lot but only one exit. Consequently, it took about four hours to finally escape. Yes there was fun in the parking lot with the other stranded people, but I really wanted to get out of there and grab a bite to eat.

What are some of the worst venues for leaving? How long does did it take to get out of there? How did you cope?

Boy! Are y'all going to love Bethel Woods!

I saw Dylan up there a couple of years ago. Traffic going out strongly resembled what you saw in the Woodstock documentary! Affordable hotels/motels are rare in the area, too. We stayed at this place that was a combination bed and breakfast/used car lot! I ain't lyin! Cost about what a Beacon area hotel would cost, too! But while you're there - GREAT VENUE!

The worst was Laurel Mountain. I believe that's closed now.

MSG just to get out of the building is terrible.

Foxboro Stadium in Massachusetts was the worse I had seen. A big football stadium with one skinny access road as the sole point of entry. Ack! On the way in, the traffic was so bad, folks just left their cars on the side of the road....

Great Woods is no picnic. Unless you pony up for the premium parking. Don't get me started on Foxboro...

Last time I went to Nissan Pavilion (last year's Tom Petty/Steve Winwood) show it took 2 hours to get out of the parking lot. Now once out of the lot, it only took 15 minutes to get home.

Verizon Wireless in Charlotte can sometimes be a joke.

The New York State Fair grounds can sometimes be a PITA. As can be SPAC in Saratoga Springs, NY....

Just about any stadium can be a PITA to get out of. Sam Boyd Stadium in Las Vegas empties onto 2 local streets. It can take more time to get out than you spend hearing music. Giants Stadium is no prize either.

Have to agree with Giant Stadium. My last concert there was in 2005 and I'm still in the parking lot. Whoever built a 70,000 seat stadium with one circular road in and out is an absolute genius

Pink Floyd, Arrowhead Stadium, 1988. Due to the altered mental state of the involved, myself and three others walked the outside perimiter of the staduim no less than four times in the attempt to remember which parking lot we parked in and therefore which general direction to go in.

Oh, wait, that's not what the spirit of the thread exactly is...?

Lakewood in Atlanta is awful. I hate going there.

They almost always route you out of there opposite of how you come in and unless you know the area you pretty much get stuck in some pretty bad neighborhoods.

1) Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre (formerly known as Irvine Meadows) in SoCal. One road in, one road out. Basically, since I'm used to SoCal rush hour traffic on freeways, it's not anything unusual.. But, now if I go to a show there, I pony up the extra bucks for the "preferred parking"...costs 3x's as much, but I get out 100x's quicker.

2) The Rose Bowl. The parking lot isn't suitable for the size of the stadium...in fact, the parking lot isn't suitable for a multiplex movie theatre lot, either. The municipal golf course adjacent to the stadium ends up being used as a parking lot. (I saw Pink Floyd there in '94...we parked the RV on the 15th GREEN. I would've hated to have to sink a birdie putt on that green the next day.

3) LA Memorial Coliseum. Like with the Rose Bowl...parking is inadequate...so, local businesses open their private lots for additional parking (as does the USC campus, but you have to walk a mile or two across campus to get to the stadium). The Coliseum is NOT in a very good area of LA, so parking on the local residential streets isn't a good idea.

I see 3 have already been mentioned - Foxboro, Great Woods, and Nissan.

Nissan particularly irratates me - I live West of there, just about everybody seems to live to the East....so after shows the cops direct traffic away from my house and I have to drive a big circle to get home....

Big crowds = big traffic. We usually plan a minor tailgate for after. Chill for an hour with a few cold ones and fire the grill back up. Make it as much a part of the event as you can.

That said, Ive found a back way out of old yankee stadium and the Meadows in htfd that seved me well.

Izod Center - getting out of the building is awful because the bathrooms are on the outside wall and the lines block the exits. The parking lots are awful too.

I have to agree with Cujo on this one... it was far worse than any shed or stadium I have ever been to.

Kentucky Fair and Expo Center in Louisville, KY.

Used to live about 20 minutes from it. Saw the Stones there and in the RCA Dome in Indianapolis in 1989. Got home form Indianapolis earlier than I did from KFEC.
