i love this cartoons. but as always, they only tell one side of the story. if tom tomorrow would explore the hilarity in the gov't running healthcare, it would truly be funny.

Funny, I got the shooting down of all ideas without offering any other alternatives as the point of the whole thing...

A few years ago the penguin was hit in the head with a random falling toilet and became Republican for several weeks. Some of the funniest stuff ever.

It boggles my mind that the right has no problem with insurance companies running health care, strictly as a way to make billions in profits, but squeal like little pigs at the thought of having the government involved. The same government that somehow fields the best military in the world.

Now, Americans are waking up to the truth that ObamaCare basically means that every time you are sick or injured, you will have a clerk from the Department of Motor Vehicles telling your doctor what he can and cannot do.

it boggles my mind that some people do not question how the gov't thinks they can pull this off without going into major debt and running a poor operation.

why do you lump those on the right all together? do i think insurance companies need a profit motive? yes. all companies do. when you let the gov't run things without profit motive, you get the DMV.

do i like the way insurances companies run their businesses? some i admire very much. others i despise. why do you lump all insurance providers into one group?

i have worked with (as their agency) three health insurance companies that you would admire if you were aware of their mission.

the problem is not private vs public. the problem is people. unfortunately, people will run both private insurance and gov't insurance. we're screwed either way.

bhawk - i take my position from the opening statement of the strip. save money and cover everyone without profit motive. that is socialism 101 and it does not work. profit is made by incentive to achieve. you can't have one without the other.

what tom tomorrow does is over simplify the problem. if it were as simple as his opening statement, then all of his strips are right on the money and hilarious. problem is, his hypothesis is never complete. the goal is not to save money and cover everyone. the real trick is to cover everyone and offer great care. saving money should be third in that list. people spend more money on flat tvs than they do on their healthcare, yet they complain.

...and military medical care. Maybe we should see about getting rid of that Socialist Veterans Administration?

My wife unfortunately gets multiple migraine headaches every month. Fortunately their is medication that helps her. Unfortunately the Health Ins. company which she gets thru the hospital she works at as an RN, will only pay for 6-pills a month. They think they know better than she does as to what she needs.

Fixed that for Ben.

People should die in the name of profit. Got it.

I have a dear friend who's wife has breast cancer and just had a double mastectomy. They pull teeth to get their insurance companies to pay the coverage they say they will pay in the contract. He's an MBA with a very large company. They currently have no flat screen.

Good question. How come all liberals are America hating, terrorist loving baby killers?
