These come to my mind immedietly...

All in the family
The Andy Griffith Show. (only the black and white episodes)
Soap
WKRP in Cincinatti
MASH

To me, those up there are just truly great sitcoms. The casting, the scripts, everything just came together and worked wonderfully. They are supremely well written, with actors that were perfectly cast. And at times they not only made you laugh, but truly touched your heart and many times made you think.

But these 2 stand out as well, in sort of a different way...

Leave it to Beaver
The Brady Bunch.

Those 2 deserve special mention because...when seen today...they are both so off the charts dopey and ridiculously *corny* (Wally's "Gee willikers", Marcias *perfectness*, and Gregs supreme dopeyness) that they are just hilariously funny in ways that the creators surely never meant for them to be.

Along with MASH and WKRP:

Cheers (the last 2 seasons were kinda lame, but early Coach and Diane episodes were great)
News Radio (was still pretty good after Phil Hartman was murdered)
Married...With Children
3rd Rock from the Sun
Barney Miller
Taxi (did not like Andy Kaufman except as Latka and Vic Ferrari)
Seinfeld

I was indifferent to Leave it to Beaver and just thought Andy Griffith was pretty lame. Thank god for cable and remote controls.

Looks like my favorites have already been mentioned ...
Classics (I Love Lucy, The Honeymooners, Andy Griffith, Leave It To Beaver)
and after the advent of color (MASH, Roseanne, Seinfeld, Taxi, WKRP, All in the Family,
Cheers, Frasier)
Love That 70's Show because it reminds me of my youth (sitting in a circle in the 'rents basement getting smoky ). I also really enjoyed Everybody Loves Raymond and The New Adventures of Old Christing cracks me up.

Franks Place was great albeit short lived, as was
Carlucci's Department with James Cocco

Both Newhart shows were great, always had a great supporting cast

Surprised no one has mentioned Frasier, espeically with Cheers getting a mention.

Father Ted was always a personal favourite.
"Down with that sort of thing."
"Careful now."

"Drink!"
"Arse."
"Feck"

Ah Father Jack, a rolemodel to drunken Irishmen everywhere!

"Buffalo Bill" starring Dabney Coleman.
It only lasted one season.
Maybe I was the only one who thought it was funny.

I also love many of the others but these were my absolute faves.

Did anyone mention 'The Munsters' or 'The Adam's Family"?
