Being a Californian, I love this, the only time of the year when we are more important than the Beacon run....Fun evening, spirited performance. Nice change of pace in the set list too. Gregg was in fine voice and played quite a bit of guitar as well, at one point (during Whippin' Post) nonchalantly tossing his pick to the crowd at songs end... Floyd Miles was there as well and kicked it up a notch at the perfect point in the show with, "You must be Crazy"...sweet. A fine rendition of Jimmy Cliff's "Many rivers to cross" was a very welcome addition... I mean this was nice. A tip of the hat to Warren Haynes on "Just before the Bullets Fly" was greeted by the crowd with applause and "Dreams" featured some great horn...but the highlight for this fan was the seldom played, "Sweet Feelin" " off of the "Playin' up a storm" CD...everyone in the band was smiling as they just jumped through this old gem. Ray Charles had to be smiling....

Before and after the show, I had a chance to chat With keyboard player Bruce Katz, what a straight shootin' nice man he was. Just as down to earth as could be and he just kicked butt on "Multi Colored Lady"...

Gregg Allman very nicely signed my ticket after the show:

BigV.: "Hey Gregg, nice show. Could you sign this for me"?
Gregg Allman: "Sure"
BigV: "Thanks my friend, I'm on both web sites as BigV"
Gregg Allman: "Oh, I've heard of you"... he said as he looked up and smiled....

Set List:

1. Don't Keep me wonderin'
2. I'm no Angel
3. I'll take care of you
4. Many rivers to cross
5. Feel so bad
6. You must be Crazy*
7. Multi Colored Lady
8. Just before the bullets fly
9. Dreams
10. Turn on your Lovelight
11. Melissa
12. Back to Daytona*
13. Midnight Rider
14.?
15. Whipping post

Encore
Sweet Feelin'
Statesboro Blues

*Floyd Miles

So Gregg visits "Hittin' the Web with the ABB/Gregg Allman". Wonder if he drops by the WP? Btw, sound like it was a great show in San Diego. Glad to see some changes in the setlist.

Great review - and thanks for sharing the autograph! OBVIOUSLY BIG V, your reputation preceeds you if our Gregg has "heard of you"! Good stuff...

Nice review Vince, thanks. He'll be in SF the 21st and 22nd, may catch one of those if I can get this lady I'm after to go. As far as Gregg's "I've heard of you" remark..........may be true, may be just him making you feel good. Never heard of Gregg hanging at the website before, but you just never know, maybe he does a lot but never logs in. BTW, according to the latest Hittin' The Note, the latest CD by The Bruce Katz Band, "Live! At The Firefly", is an outstanding, and all instrumental record.

Good stuff, Vince!
Saw him at the Ridgefield Playhouse at the end of December with Floyd Miles. Similar setlist but Gregg did Just Like a woman.

He's heard of you because many on this website alerted security to watch for you at the show. They weren't supposed to tell Gregg, but I guess they did anyway.

Sounds like a great show, I hope to catch Gregg soon. Love the way Gregg does "Dreams" with his solo band.

FYI, "Sweet Feelin'" is a Clarence Carter song ("That Old Time Feelin'") and he's still alive. "Brightest Smile in Town" was the Ray Charles song on Playing Up A Storm.

That is exactly what happened, he had absolutely no idea who I was...still, I was chuckling as I typed this out last night.

But it's the kind of crack that paints a different picture of him than some other press does.

He probably doesn't but he may get a restraining order anyway just in case.

Maybe gregg and spiral are the same person. Gregg does have tattoos so he may be into Doom.

Nice to see Many Rivers to Cross in Gregg's set. Warren has been doing it since 05 and it is such a great song by Jimmy Cliff. I would love to hear Gregg sing it.

Glad you got your ticket signed. :-) Cool.
