Hi all , glad you are liking it Masahiko, i believe it to be your source .... i just did a little speed correction and adjusted some color curves - in hindsight i think i slowed her down a little too much ... but just a little
Stormyrider, it's pretty hard to figure out what they are playing, although i think we are getting an odd second of this and that from throughout the gig, in chronoligical order (hence the few seconds of J.Winter at the end.) . My best clue is the drum patterns, I'm recognizing a couple of them , (after the Love valley sinc thing from last year they are ingrained upon my soul! hehe) Although, i hesitate to say my theories until I'm absolutely sure. I think you are seeing the beginning of a dreams Duane solo in the second or third segment though. Followed by 2 or 3 seconds of mountain jam drums.
To be honest i've no idea of which set this was, there's no horn section in obvious evidence, so your guess is as good as mine

here's a little read i got from Hambone558
"I was at the Fillmore for one of the shows. The format back then was for a headliner to play Friday and Saturday night. There were three acts on the card. I forget who was first, but the ABB was second, and Johnny Winter, the star, third. I believe it was the first performance at the Fillmore East for the ABB. I took my older brother to the show because we both loved Johnny Winter (and I remember him wearing black, and his hair in the film was the same length as I remember, too. The black clothing on him was cool as **** , because the spot light would just focus on his head, and you wouldn't see anything else at first. He glowed. Then, they'd add more light so you could see him prancing around the stage. The Joshua Light show was really terrific. Goddamn, but he was such a good showman. There was no one else who could play with the clarity of Johnny. He had lots of treble, and with his long fingers, he just didn't miss anything. ) Anyway, as I was saying, I took my brother because we wanted to see Winter. Well, this second band, some guys called the Allman Brothers, start playing, and my brother falls asleep. (no, we weren't high). I had never heard them before, but in no time, I'm really into what they're laying down. I hit my brother on the shoulder and tell him to wake up and listen to what's going down. He rallies, and we become instant ABB fans. Duane was, indeed, cool as **** . The way they brought guitar harmonies into their songs was just so new, and the two drummers added a lot of pulse to their music. Really great stuff. There was no place like the Fillmore to see incredible music. Many, many fond memories. (One other I'll share: I also took my brother to see Hendrix - third row seats. Guy next to us was too drunk. Puking on the floor. Played with Buddy Miles and recorded an LP that night. Dem Changes. wow. The bank of Marshalls was impressive.) Hope this sheds some light."

Hai I think this would be too mammoth an undertaking to sinc up to audio. (I'm a coward )

Dave

p.s. thanks Steve

As for the Allman Brothers playing before Johnny Winter. I think there was 1 guy at the show that wanted to see Johnny Winter and not the Allman Brothers . On At Fillmore East, during Duane's solo you here the famous "Play All Night" shout. After the shout, Duane plays a riff, then you can hear some guy yell "F*** You". I think it was in response to the "Play All Night" shout. Guess the guy wanted to see Johnny real bad.

Dave...a BIG undertaking. Very cool of you to put this up and link it. Thanks. Just when you thought you'd seen all the footage there was a nice suprise.

That is very cool. I have question, though: when Duane and Dickey are facing each other trading licks, there is a moicrophone between them. For who? Dickey wasn't singing yet, Duane sang Dimples once in a blue moon, and Barry wasn't on that side of rhe stage. Was it for Johnny Winter?

What a contrast between Johnny back then and how frail he is now...

After watching this a few times now, this would be my guess as well. The cameraman was probably using an 8mm with a limited amount of film and just turned the camera on when something "special" caught his ear...

Very, very cool....nonetheless.

Remember Duane did a lot of the banter between songs. I think it maybe was their standrad stage set-up. There's a similar mic set-up in the Love Valley set too. scroll through to 3:04 .

I think the Winter segment is from his own set, notice the different positioning of the drumset. Which would tie in to mine and Vince's theory. Well spotted though

The Allman Brothers did not play Dreams at all during the Fillmore East run of 3/11,12,13/71 shows so it has to be something else in the video.......
I was at the 3/11 early show too....it went Elvin, ABB, and then Johnny....
