Just a heads up for anyone waiting for something from me - being out in the woods and getting electricity from a rural cooperative electric company means that when something like Hurricane Isabel comes thru, all bets are off as to how long the power will be out.

I have internet access here at work, but no CD burning capability.

At home, I've been without electricity since Thursday night - now the power coop says they should have everyone back up no later than Friday (that's September 26th) - so no burning CDs for me before this next weekend, worse case I hope...

Thanks!

Come on Jim They got along for thousands of years without CD burners. Do it the old fashioned way, like our parents had to do it. You know a microphone and a taperecorder. You can do it

I hope that you and everyone are recovering ok. If I can burn some for you let me know.

You should rent a gas operated generator for your burning needs

Hope it's on sooner than expected !

Jim.. have you thought of getting a backup generator? For all of us that live far from civilization .. they work great! Phil

See that.. two of us made the suggestion... may be something there Jimmy.

you know - I do have a gasoline powered 5000 watt generator, but I've been reluctant to hook it up to the computer and start copying CDs - I'm not sure about the quality of the power from that generator (and how it might affect the copies - but that's probably not an issue)
I'm more worried about what my wife would say if I fired it up so I could burn some CDs...she might have something to say about my priorities....

We've been staying at my mother in law's house about 25 miles away (and about 70 miles from work...)

Jim I feel your pain, we lost power for 2 weeks during the big ice storm in the north east 4 or 5 years ago. Not fun.

OK,

1) I would think the Mrs would commend you for using candles, flashlights, fireplace & camping gear so that you could reserve power for the important things.

2) Maybe the Mother in Law needs a CD Burner for a "Thank you putting us up" gift. Maybe that should be "Thank you for putting up with us"

Jim, I'm right with you. We just got power back last night. It's been off since thursday morning. I can do without the lights, but not my stereo and computer! Glad you're Ok, I'm just 50 miles down the road from the Outer Banks of NC. We had serious damage here. I had many trees down, but none hit the house. The wife said never again will she ride out a storm like that and I agree! They only have to say evacuate once and I'm gone.

Still no power - and last night when I called the electric co-op, they couldn't even speculate on when power would be restored.

Then last night and this morning, we got even more rain then from Isabel - more flash flood warnings...glad I live on a hill!

Benji how's your eyesight? when i do those mass burning sessions i get eye fatigue. or a headache. for some reason i just can't walk away from the computer in the middle of a burn....and it's not a very interesting task to watch.

Haha! If I'm not careful, I'll get sucked into watching those progress bars move from left to right in EAC...not healthy!

I really try to find something else to do - like listen to Reo Speedwagon!!!

BTW - Styx is a much better band, it's Lorne and Lee that really like Reo (and Journey too....)

i was such a journey fan in the early 80's it was pathetic....before Black Sabbath corrupted me....

i hate that the average fan doenst even realize that Steve Perry is not even with them anymore. should be a disclaimer on the ticket or something.
