Considering he had Kid Rock on stage,,,and then sang Freebird..the label is fitting rather nicely.

"Last Redneck Hippie Soulman"

Ain't History great!... I love this period of the Band, Gregg out front singing and playin' Electric Guitar.

There is a line about halfway through the article that Gregg needs to write a song about. He says "it takes a fool to tell half a story". Aint that the damn truth! Rolling Stone articles are like greatest hits cd's, they always forget to add impotant stuff and you have to search elsewhere for it. I would have liked them to ask what he listens to, if he is writing songs, future tours, albums, why it took so long to get E.C. to play with them and we all want to know more about Duane.

Is there a link for this article? I couldn't find it. Or do I need the actual magazine?

It reads like he just let Gregg talk about what Gregg wanted to talk about. I've read it a few times now and there are a lot of deep nuggets that elude you the first time or two. Devon sums up his father's life really nicely at the end. And then Gregg finishes with why he got his tattoos and then not wanting to open another window just stops the narrative with a never mind.

It's like we've been invited into the haunted soul of an artist. Ain't nothing fake here in this man.

Loved the article. Thought the memories of him and Duane as children were so sweet. Had to laugh thinking about a baby Duane reaching through the crib bars to smack Gregory for his bottle. The noose story was priceless. I'm glad he has so many memories of his brother to tide him over till he see him again. Sorry to hear he's lonely. Sure we have some Angels would love to cure that for him. As for the biological stuff I can fix that for him. Leave those young girls alone and give a shot at the fine, busworthy, women of your generation who have loved you for so long through the good and bad. We ain't got those clock issues anymore and I'm sure we could show you a thing or two on those antique barber chairs in your bedroom. Mitzi, can I get an Amen???????

I enjoyed reading the article, too; HOWEVER, in Gregg's radio interview that was posted on this forum, Gregg says The Rolling Stone's article was "bull **** ." He said he never said any of those things about his ex-wife, his son, etc., and that he has never had a good relationship with The RS and he will "never do another interview again.... "You won't see me in any more magazines...."

So, that's a bummer.

That issue was the first RS I bought in years. After thumbing through it and reading the interview (I didn't think the cover pic of Gregg was very flattering) I remembered why. It's somewhere in the recycling bin now.
