I was at this show and it was probably the best Rock n Roll gig I ever saw .

Just hearing the ABB, Phil and the Crowes in a smaller venue like Roseland was amazing. It was pretty much full tilt from 7 to past 1 a.m. Derek couldn't be at the gig so Warren sat in with Jimmy. The ABB in Roseland was some big sound.

Here's how the night ended:

Me and my friends have argued for a long time over the identity of the guy in the orange jump suit who's all over Warren. He 's an obvious distraction but Warren, being the consumate pro just powers through. I figured the guy may have been related to Woody or something, hence not get the escort off the stage. Anyone know ??

Hook Herrara?

I was at this show too...standing right next to you, ya deadbeat!! Awesome night for sure. Loved the Crowes set, all covers. The ABB set was great too, Trouble No More that night was awesome I thought. Little Milton was phenomenal too, particularly on Feel So Bad.

Did I also read somewhere where they are going to release this on dvd and cd too? Perhaps just wishful thinking. I kind of recall cameras set up everywhere that night.

I think I may, everything except for the Crowes set. I would have to look for it though. My filing system is not really a system at all. I will PM you if I find it.

If any, then 8/26/2010 would be an appropriate release date

Anybody that needs a copy , give a holler [pm]............

This is what I have........

One For Woody" Benefit Concert

Courtesy of Mike Bremer VHS source tapes

Lineage: 2nd gen VHS of webcast > JVC HR991U SVHS (w/TBC on & Hi-Fi mode) > ADS CapWiz > HD > VideoRedo Plus & Canopus Procoder2 (CP2 on Soulshine > Franklin's Tower only) > TMPGEnc DVD Author > Pioneer DVD-RW DVR-107D

Video: MPEG2, 720 x 480 29.97 fps (4:3) NTSC 3999 kbps
Audio: Linear LPCM, 48000 Hz Stereo 1536 kbps

DENZA NOTE: I have seen some other sources of this show and they were REALLY crap, so even though the description to follow might sound rather grim at times, it's still better than anything else I've see of this concert.

The source tapes appear to be the original webcast recorded to VHS and dubbed on an editing deck as various portions of the video were transposed, sometimes repeated and at times intermingled. It made it difficult to edit troubled portions smoothly, but the end result really isn't too bad. A few bumps in the road during a few songs, but nothing too distracting. This is not the 100% complete One For Woody Concert, but nearly all of it is here, missing 3 songs from the ABB set and the Black Crowes set along with a couple cut tunes.

A webcast is lossy so the video is low definition and oversaturated and it is what it is, low bitrate digital > analog > digital. Likewise the original audio was lossy with the inherent low bitrate mp3 artifacts. I left it in .wav from the capture to the DVD to avoid still another conversion. Tape 1 which ended at ABB's Black Hearted Woman was recorded really hot toward the end (Sunshine Of Your Love > end) and was badly distorting along with static in digital, but after some adjustments on the capture it's now at the very least, tolerable. The audio on DVD2 is better. I considered trying to sync up a better audio source, but with all the video hacks, I decided to leave it alone for sanity's sake.

Freeze frames exist both on the VHS tapes and from video editing to maintain A/V sync.

Now, the good news. If you look past the low quality video and the flukes in the audio, there are some nice performances here and a few great ones, Shine On You Crazy Diamond among others. An All-star lineup, Jimmy Herring is awesome as always and there's even some Little Milton. It's one for Woody. Nearly 4 hours.

Included on DVD 1 is a rare bonus track of Govt Mule w/Woody doing an acoustic Afro-Blue on Louisiana Jukebox in NOLA 1998.
LQ video, HQ performance.

I just like to bust Tom's chops about that one. We have been debating this question since the night of the show. I kept saying its Hook, even though its not.

By the way, the Crowes set was as follows. This is what I remember, so I may be missing a song. Great set of all covers though.

Hot Burrito #2
Kinky Reggae
Boomer's Story
Chevrolet*
Shake Your Money Maker*
Oh Well*

* with Warren Haynes
