I caught Les Dudek at the Dinosaur BBQ in Rochester NY last night. (He's at the Syracuse Dinosaur tonight).

I had never seen him before and he was quite good actually. It's just a little three piece band, and they rocked. I was pleasantly surprised.

I know he played on the Allman's Brothers and Sisters record, but then he seems to have taken the road less traveled.

I wonder why he has never been involved in some way with the Brothers as a Beacon guest, a somewhere on the road guest, Wanee, Hunter Mtn., GABBA or some such thing. He's a pretty decent guitar player and I'm sure more folks would dig him given the opportunity to see him.

Well, two pretty big reasons why the chances of Les playing with the Brothers isn't likely to occur, or has only happened once actually, 8/24/73 when Les was in Boz Scaggs' band.

After Gregg & Cher divorced, Les and Cher were a couple. So, there's that. Actually Les tells some pretty humorous stories about the time when he was with Cher and Diana Ross was dating Gene Simmons, yes, that Gene Simmons.

Also, for many years there was nada chance since Les was upset with Dickey about Les not receiving the promised writing credit for his contribution to Jessica.

Through the years Les toured with Stevie Nicks (another ex-girlfriend) and, gulp, even Steppenwolf (for all of four shows. Let's say Les didn't particularly care for John Kaye).

Les can still bring it. When he does tour it seems to be in Florida (where he lives) the Northeast and California. I'd always thought that since Wanee is a Florida based show, that Les would be a perfect participant. But, there are those past "conflicts."

Glad you got to catch him. Any tapers?

The drummer in Les's band is a friend of mine from my hometown here in Tennessee. We play music together when he is in town. His name is Bryan Hawkins, if you have a chance to talk to him tonight tell him Don Curtis from Tennessee says hi. It'll freak him out. Les and his band recorded a show last month that is suppose to come out on DVD sometime in the future. Have a good time at the show!

I bought his first solo album solely on the basis that he was on Brothers & Sisters and mighty fine it (still) is too. Say no more is good too and both are available now in a double pack CD (at least they are here in the UK).
