You are correct sir!

What a great foil for Johnny.

What a great laugh the man had. Those Karnac the Magnificent skits killed. Farewell Ed.

Guess I ain't ever gonna win that Publishers Clearing House thing now!

Farewell to an American icon and treasure! Johnny Carson probably wouldn't have been the same with any other guy on the end of that couch. Every comic needs a straight-foil and there was none better than Ed McMahon.

Conan could use a guy like him.

RIP Ed. Hope you mailed me the cheque.

RIP Ed.

When I was a kid, we would joke with our Grandmother, "Grandma, we just heard, Ed is leaving the Tonight Show." She'd always say, "don't you all mess with my Johnny and Eddie."

Just curious if anyone actually thinks that Leno's or Conan's show was The Tonight Show?

Despite what the network says I think it ended with Johnny and Ed.

I agree. The Tonight Show, for me, will always be Johnny and Ed. Nothing against Jay.

Completely agree, Johnny and Ed, along with Doc set the standard for late night TV, and I don't think anybody as come anywhere close to what those guys did on the Tonight Show.

RIP Ed.

Always thought I would meet Ed one day at my front door with one of those giant checks. Oh well. On a serious note I send condolences to his family. I have fond memories of Ed on the tonight show which used to be one of my mother's favorite shows when Carson was the host.

RIP Ed.

Then squared again. Johnny and Ed (and Doc and the guys) set the gold standard for late-night ... Johnny and Ed together again ... some angels will be laughing tonight. Rest peacefully, Ed, and say 'hi' to your friend for us.

They were the only game in town back during their day...late night has become watered down with all the "wanna be's"

Agree - late night hasn't been the same since Johnny closed down shop, IMO.
