The story is too long with too many photos to copy and paste.

Just got word that my sister & brother-in-law are safe. They work in DC, live in Fairfax.

It's all that's on the local news right now. There have been 6 fatalities so far. The one good thing as far as rescues go it happened on a track that is above ground. Some of the tracks are as far as 16 stories down.

As aiq said, this is the northwestern part of the line. A friend of mine who usually rides in that section on those trains happened to work late today so she is ok. The Metro always seemed to be a well-run line to me, but when humans are involved anything is possible. Hope all acquaintances are alright.

I was also worried about Jim Benjamin, but he heads in a different direction out of town. My thoughts are with all involved.

I agree, only used The Metro when visiting VA but was impressed.

We've had two major accidents on the "T" up here in Boston w/in the last year. Both involve the drivers using cell phones while operating the train. Cell phones are now banned, any driver caught using one is subject to termination.

Hey there - I take the bus now instead of Metro.

I have some employees who take the Red Line out there in the evening though - I'm praying that they're all okay.

Rob, you seem to miss the point. There are folks from this site in the DC area and we were concerned about their well being in light of this tragedy. What if we found out one of them had been hurt or killed in this crash?

I'm safe and sound. And thanks for checking in on me last night, Dave. I drive to work 90% of the time, but I use the Metro all the time for non-work stuff and it was the line that goes right past my condo. The NE side of the city is all but shut down today. So far no one I know was involved. But it's still terrible.

Dave, very nice of you to be concerned about our Rhonda. To keep this about music for Rob in NC, DancingRhonda is a huge music fan, and oftentimes reports on shows she has been to in the DC area and beyond. Hope that suffices. Glad Rhonda is safe and sound, so she can go and listen to more music and keep it about music on this forum.

That is rather cold. Amazed that someone would even want to post something like that even if they felt it. You do realize that some have died and many on here know people who could be effected.

Sorry if a thread checking to see if fellow members are OK bothers you. You could have just skipped the thread. I guess we should just debate about Dickey's departure or whether or not Linnie Skinnie has a right to tour in every thread all day long.

Glad to see that Rhonda is OK and hope all others are as well.

Glad to hear that local "peachheads" in my "neck of the woods" weren't involved in this accident. As, someone previous mentioned it all over the local news. Btw, thoughs and prayers go out to all that affected by this accident.

The title of this category is:

Anything Goes
Talk about life, love, and oh yeah, keep some relationship to the Allman Brothers Band too!

I think Dave covered all the topics above with his original post.

My thoughts go out to all the families and friends affected by this tragic event.
