Thanks for the mention bro, and take good care -- I wish all the best towards your mom's return to good health, and hope things start to look up for yourself as well.

Don't let the possibility of litigation upset you -- this is an open forum that SHOULD be free from any of that stuff. It wouldn't get anywhere.

Any chance you could post that article on Dickey? I'd love to read it, especially coming from a realistic angle the way it sounds like.

How about Just Another Love Song too, from Win Lose or Draw. I've never understood why more people don't like that song -- a warm, flowing, Blue Sky-like thing of beauty.

Yeah, we have some feisty folks here in the forum -- but at the end of the day all is forgotten when we slap on our favorite Brothers music. Sorry that you & Cliff couldn't get on the same page.

My own personal opinion is that Lynyrd Skynyrd should be opening for Dickey, not vice versa (in Wallingford, CT). What do you think?

SM-I will echo Stephen's sentiments above. I want to add that I know it can be difficult--easier said than done, to try not to take things too heavy around here. Most folks are here to talk about their favorite music in a positive way & I can tell you it is far more mellow than most other music boards. In any event, hope things get better for you & a big hello to Brother Stephen, how ya been?

I haven't read all your posts or all the repsonses, but from what I have, it seems you are still really upset about Dickey's ousting. In addition, however, it seems that you do get a bit aggressive with a lot of the people on the site. I don't think anyone meant to hurt you.

I have to say, though, Rockcritic - my mom had a lung transplant in 1992, went through hell with dialysis, a colectomy and more for 5 years before dying in 1997, and I never, ever used it as an excuse for bad behaviour.

I wish you and her well, but this site is a mellow place, and while everyone wants to hear other points of view, including yours on Dickey, you really dragged it out, and then got defensive and aggressive when others called you on that fact. Lots of people, including me, stood up for you in the past, but don't use your life as an excuse to be mean.

I wish you the best, however, and would love to see you stay on the site in a positive way.

The poster formerly known as Jamminrebel/rockcritic, & now, Southern man. What's next, a symbol? Geez.

We never came to "terms" over anything, b/c I was never at odds with you. I still am not.

I still don't see or hear the malice/abuse on this forum. You spoke of the slander on Dickey a while back.... & methinks that you get waaaaaaaay too sensitive when people don't agree with you. I don't know what abuse.com is, nor do I really care to. Either way, it's only the web. Why let it bring you down? Hell on the forum? With what? It's a FORUM!!! Gotta roll with it.

Hell is when poor Ozzy Osbourne has to take out the trash.

Remember what I told you in e-mail a while back.... if you can't "take" people responding to what you say, DON'T post.

Cliff, maybe YOU should go to law school, since you have a burning desire to sue people . My friend is dating the President of one of them in NY (snicker). Lighten up.

How well you all have taken this guy's bait!! LOL!! I didn't report him to "abuse.com" I sent an email to his provider AND TO HIM to let him know his emails were nolonger appreciated in my mailbox. Sending one to his provider was just to show him how serious I am about that matter.
NEVER was litigation mentioned!! I told him no more than to stop emailing me.

You want to believe this consistently unreasonable and abusive individual, that's on you.

If, however, you believe me, then I expect apologies as public as the accusations of lawyering are.

Good Christ, w3hat is the matter with you people?

I, for one, believe Cliff if that's what he says. I have seen him to be nothing but fun, kind and polite, and have seen quite a dark side of RockCritic - not that I haven't enjoyed the points you make in your quotes, but you seem to really get nasty sometimes.

I was sooooo pumped when I came back to the site after a 2 year hiatus to see it so friendly compared to May of 2000. The last thing we need is a return to that kind of environment.

But the real bottom line is there is room for everyone!

In the words of one of RockCritic's (and my) favorite musicians...

"We'll all be singing and we'll all be friends, back where it all begins"

and, of course...

"People can you feel it? Love is everywhere. People can you hear it? Love is in the air.
We're in a revolution. Don't you know we're right. Everyone is singing. Yeah! There'll be no one to fight."

Peac(h)e, and I mean it this time!!!!!!!!!!

SouthernMan, hope things turn out well for your mom. I'm going to speak up in your defense. While some of your posts have been very long, I've found it very easy to go to something else if I got tired of reading. As for changing your name, that's your business. I used to post here under a different name myself. Anyone who wants to go back through all the posts will find that Cliff has posted some pretty abusive statements to people himself. I once replied to one of them in defense of someone else, and got a few personal emails from him myself. And no one on this forum can even approach JAG for being a downright a**hole to people at times. I'm sure I'll catch some flak for this, because some people on here love to jump on others. I couldn't care less. SouthernMan, go or stay, that's up to you. But I advise not trying to be "friends" with some of the people here, who are only here to ridicule others.

I cannot believe that so many normally intelligent people have all of a sudden begun to take what a demonstrated abuser of these forums says at face value. If this guy walked up to you in a bar and started crying about his Mom, and his unemployment, and his life and how women scare (scar?) him, how many beers would you buy him before you got sick of it? Just because he's on the Internet makes his story gets MORE plausible?

Please!

Now THAT'S callousness friends, and deservedly so. This guy has been sending me emails for two weeks all start out fine; all end up being insulting. Just like his posts that he had to delete in the hopes that you all would forget how abusive they were of so many regular users of this Forum!
You're being hoodwinked, I think you'd recognize the signs.
Sheesh.

What I can't figure out is why anybody cares! There is life out there people. You guys can call me whatever the hell you want and have, but I couldn't care less. Nobody online pays my mortgage and until you do, you won't matter. I care about what my family thinks but not some message board except Gina of course. I just can't kick that addiction!

JAG - it's not that we all "care sooo much" about it and have our days and family lives ruined over it. This site is a small, but important part, of many of our lives. We walk through each day and deal with people, most of whom are perfectly pleasant, but have no clue as to this "Brother/Sisterhood" that we all belong to and what it really means - music, peace, love and tolerance.

So when someone comes to this .5% of our lives and screws it up by stirring things up way beyond what could be considered friendly debate, we get pissed off - it's enough to deal with that all day at work or when you watch the news and people kill each other over a mound in the desert - but not here.

That's why I think many of us get so emotional about it - it doesn't dominate our lives, but it sure is a fun little place to be sometimes, and we want it to remain that way.

JoJo

I agree JoJo, without condoning meanness -- and I think a mere message board contains minimal "meanness" since it's just written words, without snide, belligerent tones of voice, florid, twisted facial expressions or eyes narrowed in suspicion and distrust -- I think a dose of this every now and then is good for the board. Keeps things percolating, I guess you could say.

Still, I don't blame the Southern Man. I've reacted that way before myself in response to posts I perceived as rude or offensive.

Hey -- eccentric is good. Anybody who gets wound up about the forum when they're not on it, now that's something different, as JoJo says.

If that's the case, JAG's suggestion of a few posts ago comes to mind. The peach. All issues would then be solved and the forum would be put in its proper perspective on the back burner of everything else in life.[Edited on 5/9/2002 by Stephen]

stephen..

I have to agree with you regarding the level of "meanness" on this site. Again, this is another element here that I just don't see. Maybe some us are more thick skinned than others. Abuse. Slander. Character. In this forum? C'mon....

Nobody here is out to get ya.

Even JAG. Don't know why he gets singled out all the time, as being "mean". So he calls people names. It's not like he kicked your dog or anything. If JAG didn't post like JAG, it'd throw me off.

Just by coming to this site & being active on it, we are all more similar than one might think.

Remember the music?

On a different note, I just don't think it was necessary for us to know about the ever growing relationship between jammin/rockcritic/southernman/Dean & Cliff. I for one, do not need to hear any new updates.

So they don't like each other.

We're at the playground during recess. He did this. Said that.

By the way, southerman, you should've stuck with the "rockcritic" moniker.

If somebody kicked my dog, he'd bite their f*cking foot off, and then continue to maul them until they could run away! He is a street dog, actually a sheltie mix who is only 25 lbs., and he put a pit bull on his back and took a bite out of him the other day when the pit bull wouldn't leave him alone. Needless to say, the pit bull doesn't bother him anymore.

He's cool when he's treated well though - I almost would say a stoner, b/c he just sits and doesn't move all night.

I will only say that whatever one does to someone else, can usually be done back to them.Live accordingly. I read something interesting recently that said respect yourself, respect others, be responsible for your actions. I think Cliff shouldn't threaten people, no we're not going down that road again. I think if he did not want to hear from JamminRebel/Rock Critic simply informing him of that fact should be sufficient, but as a first email to complain to a service provider seems inappropriate. That action is usually for unwanted porno, and I doubt JamminRebel/RockCritic sent that as that has not been brought up as an issue.

You know what Gina - if you examine the posts (that remain undeleted) you can see a pattern of some very unattractive behaviour from Mr. RockCritic, and Cliff just reacting as he tried to engage him and kept getting bashed.

I think there is a belief out there that people's circumstances or that society is at fault for people like RockCritic - they are not - he is, and the fact that so many of you defend him is what I heard Rudolph Giuliani (best mayor ever) characterize as the "psychosis of the American left". Not that I don't lean left on lots of issues, like environment, pot legalizing, gays, etc., but it seems people have lost the ability to say - "This is acceptable conduct, and the other wayis not acceptable".

Sometimes it's not grey - things are a lot more black and white in the world than many people are willing to admit, and from my seat, Cliff did not start this, only reacted, sometimes strongly, but not trying to abuse RockCritic. I can't say the same for RockCritic, and I don't think if you looked at the facts you could either.

BTW - I have never posted or responded to you, but good to meet you, and I hope everything with you and JAG works out.

Yeah...the American left has really lost the ability to be closed-minded...it's very sad.

Rudy Giuliani, best mayor ever? Am I really gonna have to hear this for the rest of my life? Sheesh...

Come on Marley - let's be fair - closed minded? There is such a thing as being so open minded you are closed minded to reality - there are certain societal standards we can all agree on - like not constantly starting fights, and not blaming your behaviour on things other than yourself.

That's what Giuliani was talking about - he was expressing how some people on the far left completely absolve the terrorists of responsibility by saying that society caused them to do what they did. He was commenting on how ridiculous that is, even though he and most others do recognize that poverty doesn't help the situation, and it's elimination would help our war on terror.

And if you could see the towers smoking and crumbling from where you live, and smell the smoke as it went over your house all night on 9-11, and then saw the man who brought NYC from garbage to the city with the lowest crime rate in america stand up and handle the worst disaster in american history flawlessly, you might think he's the best to. Or would you prefer Mr. Daly out there in the windy city?
