In February 2008, director Martin Scorsese announced his intention to produce a documentary movie on Bob Marley. The film is set to be released on February 6, 2010, on what would have been Marley's 65th birthday. Recently, however, Scorsese dropped out due to scheduling problems. He is being replaced by Jonathan Demme.

I look forward to seeing this one, also. Love Bob. Too bad that Martin had to drop off because he seems to be such a music fan - I think he would have done well here. I think Demme will be an excellent replacement, though - he's done some fine work with music film (Stop Making Sense, Neil Young a couple of times).

One of the interesting things about the 40th Woodstock DVD is that Martin Scorsese was the second unit director on the film.

I also look forward to seeing this, and buying the DVD!

As it happens, a copy of his last show is on it's way to me today!

Apart from leading an amazing band (huge number of world-class players and singers but each note perfectly placed, no one stepping on anybody else's toes) and writing classic songs, Bob Marley was one of the most important international figures of the 20th century, rising from poverty to enormous influence. An iconic example of the power of music.
