the "Church Bus" moniker might make for a good cover from the authorities.

I somehow doubt it. Since the disbanding of The Peacemakers, I don't think Oteil has had much of a need for The Church Bus, unfortunately. I'd LOVE to have it, but before I can buy a bus to go on tour with, I need to buy my daughter a new(er) car, and that ain't gonna happen any time soon!

Any idea why the Peacemakers disbanded ?
I really dig their CDs....was fortuanate to see them live at Wanee in 08' however, they had a replacement at lead guitar--nevertheless the guitarist did a great job.

I love those BlueBird buses. I like how you are not sitting on top of the front wheels while driving. There was a nice one on River Road, just a couple sites down from where BigDave had their jams previous years. I would love to have that bus. 44 bids, others want it too..

I really miss this band.

However, it was very nice seeing Chris Fryar leaning on Zac Brown's shoulder when ZBB got a recent CMT award, though.

44 bids but about 20 are one bidder bidding against themselves. I guess it was an effort to get the bids higher. Didn't get high enough to meet the reserve though.

I think Willie nelson should buy it, or at least have "Church bus" painted on his, so the po-po don't come do a dope search going down I-10 in the deep south.

When did the Peacemakers disband? I was wondering why they didn't do Mt. Jam.

Slight digression: Why did the Peacemakers disband?

Did they disband? Are they merely on hiatus?

No offense intended, but Oteil has never kept the fans properly updated on the status of the Peacemakers. Remember when they had a sax player (Kebi Moore, I believe was his name)? Being from Birmingham, I've probably had more opportunities to see the band than most. Well, after one of the City Stages (4-5 years ago?) - Kebi just stopped showing up. There was never an explanation on Oteil's site. Just no more Kebi.

The same was true when vocalist, Paul Henson just stopped being at the gigs. If there was ever an announcement, I didn't see it.

My own guess is that these guys will pop up again some day. Don't hold me to that because I do not know for sure.

Oteil and the Peacemakers - my personal favorite off-shoot of the Allman Brother's Band!

Yeah Rusty, I have heard through the grapevine, that there were just a lot of personal conflicts with touring that put the band on hiatus. I think it was just hard for the whole lot to get together for any sustained tour. I don't think anyone was ousted or quit the band on bad terms. Just couldn't keep the thing together for this reason or that.

I do know that Mark Kimbrell had an aging mother he was having to take care of. Very noble of him to make the sacrifice of playing to be with and take care of her. I'd have done the same thing. I have heard Chris Fryer is playing with Zack Brown Band now, and Matt Slocum is playing with Susan Tedeschi. Matt also sat in with Jaimoe's Jasssz Band at Wanee. We can sure hope The Peacemakers will resurface again in the future. Great players who had a great sound together, fo' sho'!
