Looks like I finally have an excuse to trek 45 minutes to the Folk Fest in lovely Schwenksville, PA. Del McCoury is there that day as well. Should be a fun way to spend a Sunday.

Do you have a date for that? I'm 30 minutes away and have never been. Might have to get there with the family this year.

Wow! Grew up in Schwenksville, Mom and Dad are still there. 2 years ago took a job in Okinawa, Japan looking for a new adventure. Cashed in my emergency airline mileage last fall to fly home for Game 5 of the World Series. Don't know how I'm gonna get home to catch dTb. Gotta find a way!

We are hitting the Maryland show...

So does that road trip now become a day or so longer...first to Maryland then to Philly? ....almost seems foolish not to...it basically on the way.

I just printed out the tickets for this show. The tickets say Fri. August 14th, even though I bought them for Sunday August 16th. Anyone else have this problem?

I was thinking about that... but the Philly lineup is not so hot, unless they have some more tricks up their sleeve. I was also wonderingif the DTB will play a short set..

Was hoping to get tix a the gate for the Sun. PM concert. Anyone know if they ever "sell out"? Also, see you can pay extra to get reserved seating. Not sure if that just gets you a closer patch of grass to sit on?? Looking forward to Sunday as a nice primer for Camden next Friday.

Ask for the "Sunday Saver" promotion:
Sunday All Events - $35, 50% off regular price

Cheaper than the afternoon concerts ticket - $54

I'm going to MD on 8/15, even though I'm 45 min away from Schwenksville I'm passing on Sunday. I got a long week coming up topped off by ABB on Friday in NJ. Getting old is a b**ch

What a perfect show, I personally prefered this set to Saturday's set. The band seemed extra soulful and bluesy last night.... Honestly, it was a GREAT show on all accounts; one of my favorite recent shows. I am really tired but will try to remember some highlights.....

Yonrico made an anncouncement that it was Todd's birthday and said that he looks like he is 19, acts like he is 9, and but is actually (insert mumble noise here).

The Sweet Inspiration opener seemed slower and really heartfelt tonight, really great version.

Key To The Highway was incredible as always, during which Kofi had a really really REALLY awesome keyboards solo.

Sailing On was a great addition to the setlist, I had not see it in a while.

It is always great to hear Leaving Trunk!

My Favorite Things was exceptional.... Always is. The audience was really into it... I heard quite a few people around me singing the chorus lines overtop Derek's guitar part. I ended up having to leave shortly after My Favorite Things so I could get back home before 1AM.

This was a very cool venue, really neat stage and the sound was perfect. I saw a few tapers so hopefully it will surface. Everyone in the audience I ran into was really laid back and friendly though they could have just been tired from camping all weekend.

The preceeding bands were all great, that was my third time seeing Langhorne Slim.... They have a lot of rocking energy which was in stark contrast to traditional sounds of The Del McCoury Band's bluegrass set. I had seen The Low Anthem once before, they are a sincere band with a great sound. I like them.

What a great weekend, too bad it is now over. Tired and slung over a desk now.

Nice show last night - glad I finally made it to my first Folk Fest. Nice atmosphere - great people. Got a kick out some nice bluegrass with the Del McCoury Band earlier in the night.
As compared to the Keswick in late May (which one of their first dates on their current tour) a lot of the songs were the same but the band seemed tighter and more responsive to the crowd. This Sky was a nice treat, My Fav Things was strong and Leavin Trunk (normally not one of my favs) is the one I keep humming in my head this morning. By the end of the night there was a whole lot of people who probably never heard of the band that were all standing, screaming for more. Now just a work week away from Camden!

Photos are now posted....

Wow, not only was this one of my favorite DTB shows in a while but I was also complete blown away by Del McCoury Band. That is first class bluegrass musicianship, Del is a living legend. Bluegrass is not real popular I know but if you like it, GO see them!
