Their performance on the Tonight Show sucked! Especially Eddie's vocals! I've heard garage bands with a better sound!

Definitely a different sound for PJ and Vedders voclas were difficult to understand, but I like the group and will buy the new release. They showed in that short appearance that they are an energetic live act!

This comment strikes me as hilarious. Vedder's vox have always been impossible to understand. He's a mumbling singer, something that has always kept me from getting too far into PJ's music. Have you ever heard Yellow Ledbetter? I can't understand a friggin' word. Reminds me of an old SNL skit.

Yellow Leadbetter is a classic, but yeah, you can make up any words you want to the song, sing along, and you might be right.

"Sucked" seems harsh. But I agree, not very impressive.

Vedder always sounded like he had a mouth full of marbles when he sang.

Personally I thought the song sounded good but the sound didn't. The mix on the vocals were muddled. This happens a lot on these types of shows where they only play one song. I don't think they put very much effort into getting the sound right. I am looking forward to the new record.

LMAO! That was funny.

We used to have contests on the radio where we asked listeners to call in and we would play a line from Pearl Jam and you had to say what the lyrics were. We would go through countless calls before someone got it. Was some funny stuff that people think he says.

No, I think "sucked" was appropriate. I watched it on DVR, and actually fast-forwarded through the performance just to see Conan sign off. Awful. Terrible song, terrible performance. But hey, I haven't cared for them since Ten.

Sorry to hear this. Last year they were getting rave reviews on their tour.

They're in spot now where they are comfortable and nobody seems to be watching Eddie Vedders every move like in the early 90's. I think they've become sort of like the Dead of their genre of rock. The fans will always show up even if they don't have a record out and the radio is just playing the old stuff. When they released the whole tour of shows in 2000 it was really cool. That's when I got more into them.

They were huge when I was in college and I was into the Dead and ABB. I would put up with their stuff in the bars and at parties but it didn't grab me. I really like them now much better than their hey day for some reason. I think they're a great rock band.

I hope they just had bad night. Some bands really don't translate well on those late night talk show spots.

This was on national tv. Why would Vedder object to a youtube video of that?

Thanks for posting the link Lefty.

Sounded like Pearl Jam to me. maybe not the greatest sound but the song was pretty damn rowdy. They can be pretty mellow at times so I thought a rowdy song was unexpected. as far as Eddie's vocals, I couldn't understand him then or now but it seemed no worse.

Conan must thank him 3-4 times at the end. Must be a big fan.

Believe me...they objected. Just a fair warning.

I lost interest in Pearl Jam after the first 3 discs, but a pal gave me a ticket to see them at the start of last summer. They were AMAZINGLY good - I really could not believe how good they were - and they had a massive crowd that cheered for the many obscure songs they played. They vary their setlists, and apparently we were there for a night of rarities. I regained all respect for them.

These days IMO nobody beats pearl jam live (Neil Young would be close second). If you don't leave a pearl jam show pumped and happy you better check your pulse.

The wife and I both thought Eddie didn't look in touring shape. Looks like he has been puttin away a little too much Microbrew.

Appearance last night made me happy as it means probably a fall tour is coming our way.

Have to say Conan was fricken funny. Glad Leno is on his way.
