Lynyrd skynard New Album Title, Release Date Announced
Loud & Proud/Roadrunner Records announced today the title and release date for the new album from legendary Southern rockers Lynyrd Skynyrd. God & Guns will be released on September 29th.

The new album features 13 tracks embodying Skynyrdís classic sound. It was recorded in Nashville with legendary producer Bob Marlette(Alice Cooper, Ozzy Osbourne, Black Stone Cherry). The first single from the album, 'Still Unbroken', will be shipping to rock radio in July, and will be accompanied by a new video, set to shoot in Nashville next month. God & Guns marks the first set of new studio material since 2003ís Vicious Cycle.

Lynyrd Skynyrd will be co-headlining the Rock Rebels Tour this summer across the US with their good friend Kid Rock.

GREAT !!!!

I can't wait to hear it, will purchase it the day it comes out........

The day the band stops playing is their business. If you don't want it, don't buy it. At least they make new records, something the Brothers can't seem to do anymore.

Plenty of folks still love this version of the band.

Actually it gives the current Skynyrd "Haters" a chance to say the same thing over and over. Instead of just ignoring it.

New members are :

Peter "Keys" Pisarczyk (born 1965 in Burlington, Vermont) is an American keyboardist. He is best known for his work with George Clinton in various P-Funk line-ups. He became the new keyboardist for Lynyrd Skynyrd following Billy Powell's death in early 2009.

AND

Robert Kearns is an American bassist who has played with several notable bands.

He was a founding member of Cry of Love and went on to join The Bottle Rockets from 1998 until 2005. In 2009 he was named to be the touring substitute for a cancer stricken Ean Evans in Lynyrd Skynyrd. Evans has since died and it is possible that Robert will stay on with Skynyrd full time.

In addition to his work with those bands Kearns has toured or recorded with Chris Duarte, Jack Ingram, Todd Snider, Alvin Youngblood Hart, Jesse Dayton, Sisters Morales, Bonnie Bishop and Chris Cagle.

I personally don't like the new version of the band, but Old Dirt Road is right on: until the Allmans release some new music, nobody here can say a thing.

And, for as sad as it is to see so many new guys in Skynard, how are the Allmans any different? All the new music is Warren's; all the new impetus is Warren & Derek's.

LONG LIVE NEW MUSIC!

What the fu*k does a phony skynyrd tribute hack- job album have to do with the allman bros. releasing new music?. they have no incentive to do another record.and this year will be their last major tour EVER. Allman Brothers = top notch musicians carrying on what Duane Allman started playing compelling music show after show. new skynyrd lite = a lame cover band milking the name of a once great band. any questions???

Yes, but it's their name to milk. I think they're letting the fans decide when they should hang it up. When people stop paying to go see them play it will be time.

It means whatever the f*ck I want it to , your not the only one allowed to have an opinion. I like the Johnny Van Zant version of the band, if you don't...I could give a sh*t less.

If it were not for Warren and Derek, The ABB would be a thing of the past.

JVZ's voice has been shot for 10+ years and Rickey Medlocke is a clown. The ABB aside, the current lineup of Skynyrd is just a sad tribute band.

I'm not sad about it. I'd say they STILL draw as big of a crowd as The ABB.

And Miley Cyrus draws 10x more than both bands combined. What's your point?

how is rickey medlocke a clown? that makes no sense as he has one of the best voices of the genre and seems to be very polite and well spoken. always does a radio interview when they come to richmond

It's whatever I want it to be. I'm happy for Miley Cyrus, good to see her make a HUGE stack of cash.

Medlocke has always been a good singer, loved him with Blackfoot and Skynyrd.

If someone wants to call him a clown, thats their worthless opinion.

When & If, Jaimoe & Butch hang it up....and there's just Gregg to carry on the name, Then and only then will the "ABB" have dropped down to the level of this current version of Lynyrd Skynyrd. One original member does not a band make. Talk about riding the gravy train. Rossington should rename the band... "The Gary Rossington Band"... If Jack Pearson can tour under his own name, so can Gary Rossington.
