peace to you, bro.

I have found that ABB is very comforting when I am down. Comfort food for the soul.

Sorry for the bumpy road, brother. Music is a healer of sorts....

You sound like me, the world ain't ready for my stuff yet, haha............ but I persevere. If I am ever good, at least I will be able to say not a soul there teaching me... the flip side, I can blame my poor playing on that too

I am trying to forget scales and boundaries and finding "notes" and it is helping immensly, I was putting limits on what to play and not knowing it. Also I am breaking it down into workable units or parts..... what is amazing to me is it is almost mathmatical in structure and it really is incremental building blocks.....

But what is my latest thing is forgetting that I need a bunch of notes and bring it back to basics. For some reason that has helped me a lot finding the core melodies and progressions. Playing fast is just inserting more notes into that basic groove as wanted..... I was making the mistake of getting too far in front of present abilities.

And from listening to Dickey and Albert King, make them notes say something.... strong, and forceful, with sublety as balance, but learn to make one note say a bunch. I believe in the blues, that is a mandatory talent.

None of this makes much sense to me as I re-read, but I'll post anyway

hang in there bro, the Allman's music usually pull me out too. I have been sparkingly bitter sometimes lately and I don't know why either. Must be the damn meds the docs put me on.
It will all work out for you.

Been there, but not for a while (at least not on the guitar).

But a few months ago we had the keyboard out for my two year old and I finally figured out how to play a few chords and, since I donít know the scales on the piano, I quickly got to that place Bird was talking about and was jamming with McCoy Tyner on My Favorite Things.

Sure I sucked, but it was bliss to me (until the sciatica kicked in LOL).

Oh to turn on the CD/LP, turn up the amp, and let it go like youíre in the band!!!!!

Feel better!

Rant on, dear friend...it's liberating and healthy and sometimes absolutely necessary to get things out. Your post reminded me of something I've found many times in my own struggles ... the power of music to pull us up and make us soar even as life is making a misery of things. So play on and rant on and know that there are people out here willing to hear your rant (if not your guitar - lol ) You take care, Effie. (btw - have been tossing the idea around of getting an accoustic guitar and maybe distressing a few of the neighborhood cats myself ... your post has just given me further proof of what a right-on idear that just may be! )

Peace and good for you - play on! See my earlier topic today: Can I get an Amen for Brother Duane. It was a crappy morning, and by the time I listened to Loan Me A Dime, Duane had me in a great mood.

Peace to you Effie!

Sometimes playing loud and proud along w/ Duane & Dickey does cure the ills. I'm not good either but damn it's therapeutic.

God Bless Duane!!

Some of us can't even tune a **** ing guitar, let alone play anything that resembles a song.

When I was 16 I could crank an 80 mph slap shot.

Doesn't mean sh!t now.

Couldn't play guitar then, can't play it now.
