It's a drab and rainy morning, and I had the Duane Allman Anthology cd in my car cd player. Didn't notice where I was on the disc and then Loan Me A Dime comes on. Brother Duane starting out alternately sweet, mellow, sad, tender, bluesy and melancholy. Then Boz comes in and sings like an angel with Duane accompanying him. Another bluesy solo by Duane, more lovely singing, and then at the end Duane and the horns rock you into smiling and dancing while driving. The perfect morning uplift I needed. A religious experience. Played it twice in a row. Thanks, Duane. And AMEN!

There's nothing quite like the Church of Duane.

Will the circle be unbroken
By and by, Lord, by and by
There's a better home awaiting
In the sky, Lord, in the sky

I had that same religious experience a couple of weeks ago. I was sitting in my truck before work listening to XM and I heard the first couple of familiar notes for Loan Me A Dime. My hand reached immediately for the volume knob and I was singing out loud and playing air guitar in my head. I've worked at my current job for almost ten years and I've only been late for work once, it got pretty close to being twice that day

In another 40 years,2049, the world will still be in awe of Howard Duane Allman's music. It will never fade away.

Awesome post Kitty & Amen indeed! It's so cool when an unexpected treat like that happens -- "music makes the atmosphere so right..."

It's really great to have people to share my musical feelings with - people who understand how great and important Duane was/is (also who understand the absolute reverence and esteem I have for him) . His music is still fresh, vibrant and especially moving. It's hard to believe, but not everyone "gets" Duane - a sad thing indeed. Thanks to all my brothers and sisters for being here, celebrating his legacy, and allowing me to let my musical freak flag fly.
